Reporting to the Director – Communications Capacity and Learning, the Learning Adviser manages communications learning and development activities through the Global Communications Network, and develops experiences to advance communications skills for staff in both Communications and other departments.
The role co-creates learning materials and has oversight of virtual communications leadership and management trainings and cohorts. S/he also builds the interconnectedness of communications professionals through collaborative networks, and ensures that the Global Communications Community network is strategically aligned, with an emphasis on building core competencies for meeting strategic priorities of field offices.
This role takes a pro-active approach in soliciting and prioritising information that determines the total content of what is shared across the Communications Community of Practice and ensures that the members of the community are exposed to best practice and Communications thought leadership. The role creates opportunities to showcase Communications work from all World Vision offices, oversees the Communications Learning Hub and manages the Communications e-courses on World Vision’s Learning and Management System.
In addition to supporting members of the Communications Network around the globe, this role works closely with other members of the Global Communications team and subject matter experts.
Effectively design, manage and lead communications learning opportunities including the facilitation and management of learners to enhance communications skills and develop key communications competencies needed by the Global Communications Network and other staff.
Work with Communications subject matter experts to develop clear, concise and engaging instructional materials that help communicators meet global communications minimum standards.
Analyse learning outcomes from around the Partnership and track personal and team progress.
Strengthen and grow the Global Communications Community of Practice, focusing on the interests and needs of the overall Communications Network and partners, with particular emphasis on Field Communications staff requirements and best practice.
Develop and maintain a calendar of learning/knowledge building online events
Solicit and collaborate with speakers and experts to hold CommsTalk and share knowledge within the community of practice.
Work one-on-one with members of the Communications Community of Practice to help advance and facilitate their professional development and career growth.
Update, manage and promote the Communications Learning Hub on World Vision’s global intranet and the Communications presence on World Vision’s Learning and Management System site to strategic design and display content for effective adoption and learning.
Other related duties as directed, including for example, editing stories and updating Communications resources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree or experience in Communications, Learning and Development or a related field.
A strong command over the English language and excellent writing, editing and proof reading skills.
Ability to work with multiple contributors to obtain content and synthesize information from various resources.
Multimedia knowledge and an ability to write effective copies, texts, audio and video scripts.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
Demonstrated experience with online platform delivery – either as a designer or as a facilitator.
Proven success in facilitating online groups/trainings and managing learners.
Interest and solid grasp of new technology.

Knowledge Management or Learning and Development training is preferred.
Instructional design is a plus.
Strong administrative skills.
Work experience in World Vision is a plus.
Basic teaching/coaching of staff.
Travel to attend relevant meetings including team meetings - up to 5% annually.

World Vision’s Emergency Response Roster is comprised of highly experienced and vetted humanitarian aid professionals available for short term, medium term, and long term emergency response assignments with World Vision. This roster allows World Vision to more rapidly identify and hire for key positions in its humanitarian response offices.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements for all Emergency Response Roster Positions:
5+ years of cross cultural humanitarian emergency experience outside of your home country.
Minimum 2 years experience serving successfully in fragile or unstable environments.
Experience directly managing staff during humanitarian emergency responses.
Ability to work long hours in stressful environments with a variety of skilled professionals.
Demonstrated management of budgets in emergency response settings.
Willing to serve unaccompanied; most likely in a team house setting.
English proficiency; written and verbal.
Grant Acquisition Management experience in your personalized expertise.
Strong track record in developing good working relationships with governmental institutions and multilateral agencies.
