Design Monitoring & Evaluation (DME) Assistant - Walapane

Design, Monitoring & Evaluation (DME) Assistant

Location – Walapane (Kandy AP)

Job Profile

The DME Assistant will support the Area Programme(AP) Manager in effective design, monitoring and evaluation of the projects in order to measure impact and share learning. The position will also conduct/ facilitate a situation analysis, develop and maintain monitoring systems for the project/ programmes, carry out monitoring visits and prepare field reports. He/She will support the AP MEAL Coordinator in developing databases, gather monitoring evidence and examine requirements in meeting established quality standards.


  • Capturing, processing and analyzing quantitative data according to the requirements

  • Support the implementation of Technical Programmes in programme impact areas by providing necessary monitoring information to field level staff

  • Field level inspection and monitoring of the programme activities to produce field visit reports

  • Capture Most Significant Stories (MSCs) and success stories suitable for publication

  • Support to develop innovative data gathering tools to support programme implementation

Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

  • Diploma in Social Sciences/ Development Management/ International Development or any other relevant field. A Bachelors Degree one of the above fields will be an added advantage

  • Preferred minimum of 1 year of working experience in community development

  • Proficiency with statistical analysis using SPSS, SAS, Minitab or equivalent and database management

  • Knowledge & experience on development of qualitative data collection methods and analysis skills

  • Data handling skills (classification, categorizing, tabulation etc.) and demonstrates diligence in data analysis and management

  • Understand poverty issues, development theories and holistic development

  • Knowledge & experience on social research and process

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, including training development and delivery

This roster allows World Vision to more rapidly identify and hire for key positions in its humanitarian response offices.

If selected, eligible applicants will first be fully vetted and then approved for the Emergency Response Roster. As vacancies arise in our humanitarian offices, roster members will be considered for employment opportunities.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements for all Emergency Response Roster Positions:

  • 5+ years of cross cultural humanitarian emergency experience outside of your home country.

  • Minimum 2 years experience serving successfully in fragile or unstable environments.

  • Experience directly managing staff during humanitarian emergency responses.

  • Ability to work long hours in stressful environments with a variety of skilled professionals.

  • Demonstrated management of budgets in emergency response settings.

  • Willing to serve unaccompanied; most likely in a team house setting.

  • English proficiency; written and verbal.

  • Grant Acquisition Management experience in your personalized expertise.

  • Strong track record in developing good working relationships with governmental institutions and multilateral agencies.
