Digital Transformation Leader

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

World Vision’s global strategy ‘Our Promise’ sets a bold agenda for change to deepen our commitment to the world’s most vulnerable children. Over the past 3 years we have made strong progress towards this goal however we now recognise the need to accelerate efforts to build digital capability across the organisation.

In order to bring about the global changes necessary, the WVI President and CEO recently established a new Digital Innovation Team (DIGIT) to define a vision for World Vision’s future digital state, find and accelerate projects that take us towards that future state; and create new capabilities addressing opportunities which fall outside the scope of other World Vision entities and teams. To support DIGIT in its mission, a new Digital Transformation Leader & Data role has been created to partner with the best digital minds from across the organization, align the organisation to a single vision of a digital future and oversee a portfolio of projects that will help us achieve break through solutions in the following areas:

  • Digital for Field Impact –Leveraging disruptive opportunities to solve problems in new ways, achieving greater reach or deeper impact and using human-centred design approaches to enrich beneficiary/partner interactions with World Vision empowering them to be active participants in their development journey.

  • Digital for In Market Delivery – Applying digital-first disciplines to ensure supporter-centric data/services are analyzed and provided in ways that are relevant to specific market segments, resonate with supporter needs and are relevant in a digital marketplace.

  • Digital for Demonstrating Impact– Building end-to-end capacity to adopt digital-first approaches to organizational problem solving, standardizing data architecture, simplifying data collection at all levels, harnessing AI and automation, and analysing outputs to identify and prioritize additional efforts only where they generate value in the field or market.

DIGIT’s program of work is highly visible within all ranks of World Vision as it has potential to radically transform the way it operates at a global scale. The Digital Transformation Leader represents the operational execution of DIGIT and its initiatives, influencing leaders across the Partnership to align to a single vision of our digital future, modelling new ways to execute with excellence, at pace, and drive outcomes that enable DIGIT to fulfil its vision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Define and provide leadership to the Partnership’s vision of a digital future:

  • Clearly articulate a vision for World Vision’s digital future that harnesses current and near term digital innovations to transform field impact, donor experience and operational effectiveness.

  • Align the organization to the vision for the Digital Future, acting as a champion, credible expert and influencing senior leaders to gain buy in and support to enact difficult changes required in order to harness digital solutions in support of the Partnership’s global strategy Our Promise.

  • Build effective, trusting relationships with critical partners within and without the Partnership to enable digital transformation.

  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Partnership of digital possibilities, choices, trade-offs and risks.

  • Lead the Partnership strategy for data working closely with WV IT and other business owners to establish roles and responsibilities for best practice data management.

  • Provide oversight to a broad and emergent body of work required to move the Partnership closer to its digital future.

  • Work in Partnership with Global Marketing & Communications, the Strategy Realisation & Innovation team, Support Office partners, relevant Global teams and Field Offices to understand current use and adoption of digital approaches and identify latent capacity that is globally distributed across the Partnership.

  • Establish effective external relationships required to help World Vision achieve its digital future.

  • Establish and oversee numerous high performing, transient teams leveraging existing latent skills, dedicated staffing where possible and external partners as required.

Assure high quality outcomes from the newly formed Digital Innovation Team (DIGIT):

  • Ensure the DIGIT has a clearly defined working agenda and governance processes in place to delivery high quality decisions at pace that maximise the resources available.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to determine how DIGIT’s global reach and resources can be best used to accelerate Our Promise.

  • Develop a shared strategy, architecture, and roadmap to help manage key milestones in the evolution of DIGIT’s portfolio.

  • Track, analyze, report and assure delivery of all DIGIT portfolio outcomes.

  • Manage priorities of all DIGIT projects and initiatives, overseeing various operational models from dedicated scrum teams / squads through to more distributed delivery teams embedded within existing structures.

  • Act as the main point of contact for all business partners, stakeholders as well as the primary driver of communication regarding DIGIT activities.

  • Oversee the delivery of business value through various program increments.

  • Report back to DIGIT and other World Vision stakeholders on the overall status and heath of portfolio projects.

Responsible for the delivery of DIGIT projects:

  • Facilitate key decision making, prioritization and initiation of projects.

  • Support internal partners with business case development and project proposals.

  • Define and handle project delivery criteria and report on the realization of project success.

  • Identify and help remove blockers escalating quickly to maintain momentum.

  • Identify and communicate potential risks.

  • Drive cross capability coordination & planning with other project managers and leads.

  • Ensure the creation of project related artifacts and other relevant documentation such as delivery plans, technical documentation and reporting.

  • Partner with fellow DIGIT members, Program Managers, Project Managers, and Vendor(s) to progress the organizational digital agenda.

  • Demonstrate progress towards reducing the $100m cost of data collection in the field.

Develop and introduce a data strategy that supports the Partnership’s digital future:

  • Work with WVIT and other critical partners to establish best in class systems and processes for effective data management.

  • Build organizational capability required to harness data across all parts of the organization.

  • Working with WVIT, establish effective data architecture, infrastructure and governance to ensure Partnership data is fit for purpose and enables us to get the most value from our end-to-end data – from field impact, operational, organizational effectiveness and market analytics.

  • Work with the Global Impact team to accelerate the adoption and use of standard field indicators as a critical dependency for the Digital Future as defined by the DIGIT.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing datasets to develop minimum viable products in support of the broad DIGIT agenda and specific desire to transform field data collection and create new market focused fundraising / user experience products.

Drive the adoption of innovative and disruptive technologies to support World Vision’s transformation into a digital first organisation and culture:

  • Keep up to date with the latest digital and technology trends and understands how they can be used to further World Vision’s mission and drive organizational growth.

  • Build support for digital adoption by articulating and demonstrating the experiences, efficiencies, and potential benefits that digital solutions enable.

  • Working with the Strategy Realisation and Innovation team, harness innovation best practice from across the Partnership in support of the DIGIT agenda and desire to accelerate Our Promise by scaling high potential digital solutions.

  • Actively promote and drive the use of disruptive digital technologies to uplift and accelerate World Vision’s digital capability.

  • Advance existing technologies by innovating on their use cases, extending existing capabilities, and adapting new best practices to create increasing value.

  • Understand the value of technology and its capability to transform legacy processes and operating models.

Promote Agile ways of working to accelerate speed to market and drive operational efficiencies:

  • Actively demonstrate agile working approaches, modelling potential benefits of adopting these approaches and creating organizational demand through high quality results.

  • Live out new ways of working to rapidly deliver value without being held back by legacy processes or operating models.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education/Experience:

  • Proven experience in a Digital Portfolio, Digital Programme or Digital Transformation role with hands on technical delivery skills.

  • Strategic leader with successful track record of leading digital transformation within a complex international context.

  • 10+ years of professional experience working within digital agency/consultancy, ecommerce or IT environment.

  • 5+ years hands-on Agile experience in advanced, large-scale agile settings applying Agile principles, practices and theory.

  • Experience preparing and developing executive level communications.

  • Knowledge of agile software development processes i.e., rapid prototyping, A/B testing, MVP development, test automation, API development, DevOps and CD/CI.

  • Shown ability to connect diverse individuals with different goals, facilitate productive discussion and action.

  • Past success in creating high performance teams, inspiring and empowering them to achieve results.

  • Strong working knowledge of program software (MS project, Jira).

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field.

  • Gift Notifications (GNs) are tracked, processed, closed at AP and NO and acknowledgement documentation sent to SO within the standard timeline as per the respective SO requirements.

Grants Resource Mgmt - EU/ECHO Specialist (German Speaking)

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To generate grant income for WV Germany and partnering World Vision offices in East Africa, to monitor the donor funding environment, engage donors at operational and strategic level, lead and/or support the proposal development process, support in case of project management issues of Germany funded projects and build operational and strategic capacity in grant acquisition and management.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor Donor Funding Environment:

  • Identify donor priorities for region & countries.

  • Track funding opportunities & calls for proposals.

  • Identify key donor trends.

Strategic Engagement and Communication with both internal and external Stakeholders at operational and strategic level:

  • Develop clear understanding of donor expectations regarding proposal submission & project implementation.

  • Lead/support problem resolution processes.

  • Participate in relevant donor meetings & fora.

  • Effective collaboration and communication with both relevant East Africa Region (EAR) units, Support Offices (SOs), and EURep on resource acquisition and management.

Develop and implement a Strategy for effective Donor Relationship Building (pre-positioning):

  • Identify key relationships to strengthen NO positioning and elevate WV’s profile with relevant donors.

  • Work with and through Nationla Offices (NOs) and in collaboration with SOs to maintain strong donor relationships at regional and country level, developing engagement strategies for each donor or a group of donors.

  • In conjunction with relevant communications teams, develop key marketing material about WV to position WV vis-à-vis relevant donors.

  • Build relationships and credibility with relevant donors at the national & regional level, using previous success and documented best practices in grant management.

Lead Proposal Development Process (Pre-proposal, Proposal development, Post-submission):

  • Communicate funding opportunities & other relevant information to field offices and other WV partners in simplified manner.

  • Participate in go/no-go decisions.

  • Work with relevant NO/RO teams on project design.

  • Ensure adequate resources (human & financial) are available for quality proposal development.

  • Ensure timely and appropriate communication and coordination of stakeholders throughout the proposal development process.

  • High quality support to proposal writing.

  • Oversee timely submission of high-quality proposals.

  • Ensure adequate post-submission follow-up.

  • Support Project Design Workshops Support Project Development through Coordination and Proposal writing.

Build Capacity of Nationla Offices (NOs) to enhance Grant Acquisition & Management (GAM):

  • Help identify NO/RO capacity gaps.

  • Support development & implementation of NO capacity-building plans.

  • Identify or develop capacity-building resources & activities.

  • Establish on-going coaching relationship with key personnel.

Grow Grant Income and strengthen GAM Processes:

  • Support NOs in meeting GAM targets.

  • Support NOs in tracking GAM metrics.

Support Grant Management for Germany funded Projects and appropriate Systems for sustaining GAM:

  • Support NO pipeline development & management.

  • Support NO planning & budgeting.

  • Ensure NO GAM compliance systems & capacity.

  • Support development & use of tools & procedures to mitigate risk.

  • Support NOs in startup workshops for awarded grants.

  • Support the development & presentation of grants management information to support strategic and operational management decisions.

  • Support donor report development & submission.

  • Identify & communicate key grants management issues that require resolution at higher level.

  • Lead/participate in knowledge transfer/knowledge sharing processes among NOs/RO/SOs.

Senior Director, External Engagement

*Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate in a jurisdiction (US state or country) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Senior Director, External Engagement provides overall leadership, coordination and alignment of global level external engagement, seeking to achieve influence, support income and ultimately to impact external targets in support of WV objectives for children as articulated in Our Promise. The Senior Director will develop and deliver annual plans that maximize the external engagement of Senior leaders, sector and thematic experts, policy advisors and children. The Senior Leader leads and facilitates the External Engagement (EE) Advisory Group for aligned and impactful external engagement across the Global Centre, including through analysis and prioritization of external stakeholders and partnerships, and through regular reporting, innovation and excellence. The Senior Director leads the alignment of EE in WV Global Capitals, leads a team of EE advisors (including in the Global Capitals) and ensures that WV voices are addressing the most important and impactful stakeholders, forums and processes in support of the rights and well being of children, especially the most vulnerable. The Senior Leader will support strong external engagement across all entities of the Partnership, including support to Regional Advocacy Directors in their EE planning. S/he will support Senior WV leaders, including the President, in their participation in major multilateral events and dialogue with external bodies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and deliver a global External Engagement agenda focused on the rights of children and the achievement of priority Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) External Engagement agenda provides the best opportunities for WV to advance its external objectives and positively impact the lives of most vulnerable children.

Examples include:

  • Work with Global Capital leads to represent or position WV within the UN, diplomatic, and NGO communities.

  • Coordinate and facilitate external relationships that enable WV to articulate its concerns to NGO, UN, Governmental, and other multilateral bodies.

  • Strategic briefings to inform organizations of WV's work and policy positioning.

  • Direct meetings with key individuals and active participation in meetings of multilateral bodies.

  • Support, coordinate and facilitate representation at agreed global events on behalf of the wider A&EE.

  • Translate in-depth policy work in A&EE priority thematic areas into messaging for use in external relationships.

  • Maintain good relations and work effectively with other members of the GC, SOs and GFO teams to ensure that World Vision presents a professional and efficient point of contact to global institutions.

  • Including maintaining awareness of the activities of other members of the team to enable mutual support during times of high pressure activity.

  • Management of the EE team, including across Global Capitals in New York, Geneva and Brussels. Support regional capitals in other locations (Africa, Asia and LAC).

  • Aligned, well functioning team supporting overall EE objectives of the A&EE team and Global Centre.

  • Develop team culture in line with agreed A&EE behaviours and mindsets.

  • Contribute to the overall leadership of the A&EE team.

  • Strong and effective World Vision representation at priority global forums and processes, through:

  • Consistent use of strategic planning processes and tools. This includes working with Global Communications to develop communications plans for all priority engagements, and working with the President’s communications team when he is participating.

  • Support for participation in international meetings, and provision of direction re: networking with multilateral leaders. Briefing key World Vision leaders before key events and debriefing afterwards.

  • Act as the organisational representative, the representative of the President, or the representative of the Advocacy & External Engagement Partnership Leader at external forums.

  • Advise WV leadership on industry thinking and new developments.

  • Provide overall leadership to EE Advisory Group.

  • Aligned, coherent and bold World Vision EE across the Global Centre, directed at the most important and prioritized external stakeholders, leading to influence, income and impact for children.

  • Provide guidance for the development of strategic global partnerships.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Masters degree in International Affairs, Public Policy, International Development, Human Rights, Law or other relevant field.

  • Minimum 7 year leadership experience working in child rights focused External Engagement in CSO context and/or government or multilateral context.

  • Expert level understanding of child rights policy debates and dialogues, including regarding the Sustainable Development Goals, ODA, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

  • Significant field experience and/or understanding in international development or humanitarian contexts.

  • English language fluency.

Purpose of Position

To ensure successful implementation and monitoring of the Youth and Disability Inclusion Project that is aimed at improving livelihood opportunities for vulnerable youth living with disabilities.

Major Responsibilities

Project implementation 40%

  • Facilitate the mobilisation, identification and pre-screening of vulnerable youth living with disabilities for employability training and coaching program.

  • Support trainings on mentoring and coaching in soft skills, financial literacy and other relevant skills in order to equip and motivate the youths in the uptake of available relevant employment opportunities.

  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of all project interventions as well as the successful achievement of proposed outcomes and intended impacts.

  • Coordinate the disability accessibility assessment and support readiness and inclusion for hotels and staff in the project.

  • Establish operational priorities and monitor monthly project performance against targets

  • Ensure that project interventions are integrated with other projects within the Area Program.

  • Facilitate identification of partners, processes and systems for employment linkages for the program graduates

  • Follow up with hotels institution to discuss any issues with training students with disability

  • Facilitate pastoral support as necessary, and monitor students during the project period.

Quality Assurance - Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation, 35%

  • Participate in the development of the project design and ensure compliance with WVK and donor guidelines and standards.

  • Ensure individual assessment reports are conducted for each learner and safeguarded for only use by the hotel in improving the working environment youth with disability.

  • Ensure that project initiatives meet or exceed planned outcomes and are implemented in full compliance with WVK, the donor and other relevant partnership and international standards and guidelines;

  • Ensure consistent monitoring of students throughout their education and post training period to ensure maximum return on investment.

  • Ensure timely and appropriate utilization of the budgeted project resources.

  • Ensure proper application of business processes, standards and guidelines related to the project in accordance with the donor requirements.

  • Ensure that the project achieves acceptable financial and operational audit results by implementing activities in accordance with established norm and policies.

  • Ensure that, in general, project monitoring arrangements comply with the project agreement and, in particular, the provisions of this agreement are fully observed in the design of project M&E.

  • Ensure quality monthly, quarterly, semi annual and annual reports are compiled and submitted in a timely manner in line with the donor requirements.

  • Ensure adequate representation with the donor, government of Kenya officials, private sector, civil society groups, including educational institutions, People with Disability Organization (DPO), Private Sector, faith-based groups and youth associations.

  • Ensure close working collaboration with key Government line ministries and other like-minded partners.

  • Develop timely and accurate similar funding proposal in line with donor requirements and WVK standards in collaboration with sector specialists.

  • Effectively advocate for the project to ensure visibility and timely implementation of interventions

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Special needs Education, Development Studies, Social Work, Psychology or a closely related field from a recognized University.

  • Must have a minimum of two years relevant experience with regards to designing, planning, implementation and reporting on disability programming, integrated development, relief and/or advocacy.

  • Experience in youth livelihoods development programming with focus on Gender, Disability and social inclusion.

  • Have practical skills in research, monitoring and evaluation, training and report writing

  • Experience in Advocacy, Community Development with strong partnership with GoK ministries and other relevant stakeholders like private companies and corporate bodies
