PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The development of a cadre of strong global leaders has been identified as key strategic priority for World Vision in this season.   • Based on industry knowledge, expertise and adult learning practices, keep web based information and e-learning opportunities in line with WV Strategy and LED focus, with the intention of advancing the overall mission and values of the People and Culture team.

  • Form consultative relationships with stakeholders and leaders in the organization to recommend most impactful set of tools and resources to use for people development.

Data Analysis:

  • Manage leader data for participants in programmes and use of tools.

  • Serve as conduit and connector with other P&C teams such as Talent Management and Capacity Building to ensure information regarding people participation in LED programmes and use of tools is shared and used to drive people development effectively.

  • Based on assessment of data, make recommendations for participation in programmes and use of development tools.

  • Collect and collate survey data and analysis from LED programmes and tool usage, and draw conclusions based on participant information in order to make recommendations for next development steps.

  • Run, coordinate, assess and make recommendations around Programme Effectiveness analysis in conjunction with Solutions Center Team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Accredited Degree in one or more of the following; Business Management, Education/Professional Education and Training; HR/Human Resource Development; Organizational Development; Communications/Interpersonal Communications.

  • Professional expertise preferably with experience in Leadership Development (Learning & Development), coordination and support of global programme design and delivery.

  • Deep understanding of organizational infrastructure, leadership development practice, challenges, trends and best practice within.

  • Instructional design experience and digital savviness.

Reputation Communications Director

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Public Engagement, the Reputation Communications Director is a senior role proactively and reactively directing the development of reputation protection and building activities. They will lead two teams with distinct areas of communitions skills and responsibilities.

This director is responsible for maintaining World Vision’s reputation during crises and faced with risks. They will lead the risk communications team that handles emerging incidents and reputational crises in the partnership and ensures there are strong policies, procedures and protocols for these responses offices across the partnership and globally. This Director will work directly with global media and other influential external partners and stakeholders to shape their understanding of and trust in WV.

They will also direct a creative and technical digital properties team that develops and control all of the digital channels of World Vision Internationsl (WVI) (WVI.org, fb, Instagram, twitter etc.).

The postholder will fully understand the relationship between trust drivers, the impact of crises, and the increase in positive reputation and will use this knowledge to significantly build trust in the organisation in order to grow influence, impact and income.

This role will work closely with the Senior Director, Public Engagement and the Senior Director, Communications and others in the global marketing and communications core team to identify and promote opportunities for building trust and reputation in line with the global partnership strategy. Able to act on their own, the postholder will work closely in partnership with others, including members of the Executive Leadership Team, Regional Leaders and Support Office (SO) and regional executives, Evidence & Learning, Global Resource Development (GRD), External Engagement & Advocacy and Faith & Development, providing advice and guidance to ensure reputation is managed and maintained through change and operational actions.

Working closely with the Brand Director, this postholder will ensure all reputation building activities are on brand and build and support the partnership and Global Communications strategies.

The position will be responsible for directing a team of communications experts in crisis management and digital communications, ensuring partnership capacity is in place for strong responsive comms for global issues and crises, developing evidence based communications that convey who we are, our core values, demonstrate our Christian Identity and build our reputation with powerholders, supports and the humanitarian sector and maintaining best in class digital properties for WVI.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set the strategic directions and lead a team of communications experts in crisis management and digital communications, ensuring partnership capacity is in place for strong responsive comms for global issues and crises, developing evidence based communications that convey who we are, our core values, demonstrate our Christian Identity and build our reputation with powerholders, supports and the humanitarian sector and maintaining best in class digital properties for WVI.

  • Provide leadership to Risk Advisors team to ensure global capacity for incident responses and ensure policies, protocols and training are consistently reflecting best practice. Advise and guide senior leadership in the partnership on Tier 1 and 2 responses to issues that threaten to harm the WV brand and reputation, and deal directly with global media and other partners during these incidents.

  • Strategically lead the digital properties team in developing and maintaining best-in-class digital channels for WVI, including WVI.org and all affiliated National Office, campaign and functional websites and microsites, fb, twitter, Instagram and youtube channels and any emerging digital channels.

  • Engage with executives in WVI and across the partnership to create and ensure alignment and that executives are champions of the digital strategy.

  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Public Engagement and the Senior Director, Communications and others in the global marketing and communications core team to identify and promote opportunities for building trust and reputation in line with the global partnership strategy.   • Advocacy and Faith & Development, providing advice and guidance to ensure reputation is managed and maintained through change and operational actions.

  • Identify, develop and champion reputation building activities that take account of trust drivers and build positive organisational reputation and ensure these are used in WVI channels, and in offices across the partnership. Use organisational and communications strategies as a springboard to develop and maintain improvements to global reputation and engage the voices of leaders in the org as well as children, communities and partners.

  • Work closely with the Brand Director to ensure all reputation building activities are on brand and build and support the partnership and Global Communications strategies.

  • Lead the development of corporate materials that will grow trust in the organization eg, World Vision Guide, Global Annual Reviews in line with the organizational brand and strategy.

  • Play an active senior role and provide strategic crisis management and branding approach in the Operations Management Team and lead digital comms networks for the partnership. In this strategic approach and the active role in the digital comms networks is considering the relationship between trust drivers, the impact of crises, and the increase in positive reputation and will use this knowledge to significantly build trust in the organisation in order to grow influence, impact and income.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Post Graduate degree or equivalent in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.

  • 10+ years working in a communications role, preferably within World Vision.

  • 10+ Experience with successful crisis management.

  • Experience developing high-level communications strategies based on insights and research, and gaining senior stakeholders’ ownership and buy-in for the strategies.

  • Thorough understanding of World Vision’s ministry and issues including children, poverty, relief, sustainable development, donor engagement and food aid.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to win the confidence of a broad range of different stakeholders.

  • Thorough understanding of media, its likely interests, demands and expectations.

Senior Director, External Engagement

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Senior Director, External Engagement provides overall leadership, coordination and alignment of global level external engagement, seeking to achieve influence, support income and ultimately to impact external targets in support of WV objectives for children as articulated in Our Promise. The Senior Director will develop and deliver annual plans that maximize the external engagement of Senior leaders, sector and thematic experts, policy advisors and children. The Senior Leader leads and facilitates the External Engagement (EE) Advisory Group for aligned and impactful external engagement across the Global Centre, including through analysis and prioritization of external stakeholders and partnerships, and through regular reporting, innovation and excellence. The Senior Director leads the alignment of EE in WV Global Capitals, leads a team of EE advisors (including in the Global Capitals) and ensures that WV voices are addressing the most important and impactful stakeholders, forums and processes in support of the rights and well being of children, especially the most vulnerable. The Senior Leader will support strong external engagement across all entities of the Partnership, including support to Regional Advocacy Directors in their EE planning. S/he will support Senior WV leaders, including the President, in their participation in major multilateral events and dialogue with external bodies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and deliver a global External Engagement agenda focused on the rights of children and the achievement of priority Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) External Engagement agenda provides the best opportunities for WV to advance its external objectives and positively impact the lives of most vulnerable children.

Examples include:

  • Work with Global Capital leads to represent or position WV within the UN, diplomatic, and NGO communities.

  • Coordinate and facilitate external relationships that enable WV to articulate its concerns to NGO, UN, Governmental, and other multilateral bodies.

  • Strategic briefings to inform organizations of WV's work and policy positioning.

  • Direct meetings with key individuals and active participation in meetings of multilateral bodies.

  • Support, coordinate and facilitate representation at agreed global events on behalf of the wider A&EE.

Knowledge Management and Capability Advisor - WASH

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The WASH Knowledge Management, Capability and Programme Communications Manager optimizes WASH capability and knowledge management among World Vision (WV) entities, enabling WASH sector staff and related teams to learn, grow, and deliver quality WASH programming that impacts the most vulnerable children, and furthers the goals of the sector strategy.

This role will collaboratively develop, implement and maintain a WASH capability enhancement system (including guidelines, processes, competencies, learning assets and learning pathways) and support WASH team members and affiliates from support offices, regional offices and field offices to plan and implement comprehensive WASH competency and capability strengthening interventions.

This role will also manage and provide expert advice to the sector Communities of Practice and other learning networks regarding collecting and sharing lessons learned, identifying and validating promising and good practices for programme quality improvement, increasing staff capacity, subject matter expert identification, and planning online learning opportunities for Community of Practice members. In conjunction with the Global Knowledge Management team, s/he will establish knowledge management systems and processes to ensure cross Partnership learning and development and support world-class implementation of selected sector interventions or project models.

This role is also is responsible to ensure evidence of World Vision’s impact in WASH is communicated with important internal and external stakeholders. This evidence will be used by marketing and communications teams to support fundraising efforts and to build WV’s reputation as a global leader in the WASH industry.

The WASH Knowledge Management and Capability Advisor will engage externally to share and also explore/learn how other organizations use knowledge management principles and practices to support learning, programme quality improvement and thought leadership in WASH . S/he is responsible to assure connections with academic institutions and other organizations to partner as appropriate for the benefit of Partnership wide WASH Capability and KM agenda and systems, and to identify learning opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set Strategic Priorities:

  • Create, implement, and nurture the sector Capability Strengthening and KM plan.

  • Ensure a comprehensive sector job family is developed and maintained to improve recruitment in partnership with P&C and technical experts.

  • Lead the design and implementation of a WASH technical capability strengthening system to provide a clear path for WASH staff development Subject Matter Expert accreditation; (in partnership with P&C, learning & development, and sector technical colleagues).

  • Lead the development of sector learning assets and platforms that cover the full employee life-cycle (i.e. onboarding, compliance training, on-going professional development) in partnership with sector technical experts.

  • Manage, nurture, and grow the sector CoPs , as well as the tools/technologies required to support it.

  • Collaboratively develop and implement a sector internal/external communications plan for key programmatic learnings (with special focus on conferences and online forums), in collaboration with Sr. Advisor External Engagement.

  • Establish and steward a system that identifies, validates and appropriately disseminates emerging promising practices, best practices, partnership and innovations.

Internal and External Communications:

  • Manages internal and external WASH--related communication to ensure relevant information, resources and knowledge assets relevant to our programming approach and impact reach appropriate audiences.

  • Ensure that M&E data and research are socialized internally and that key findings are reviewed and validated for programme quality improvement.

  • Review and, at times, develop external-facing communications that position WV as a thought leader in WASH.

Build Capabilities:

  • In collaboration with key stakeholders design the WASH capability development system including competency frameworks, policies, standards, guidelines and capability strengthening interventions and processes that lead to accreditation of technical staff.

  • Develop and disseminate robust capability assessment practices and tools to identify sector learning and capability needs to prioritize solutions.

  • Partner with RO and SO leaders to continuously assess WASH capacity building needs among FOs and ensure the provision of coordinated support to address identified needs.

  • Lead the development of defined Learning Pathways for key technical areas (i.e. onboarding, certification, on-going professional development and capacity building) in partnership with SMEs, and maintain oversight of end-to-end design applying the 70:20:10 framework.

  • Develop, maintain and effectively disseminate WASH technical competencies and associated assessments and competency learning pathways to help facilitate onboarding, certification, on-going professional development and capacity building) in partnership.

  • Plan, create, and lead collaborative design efforts to design learning content using adult learning methodologies and ensuring alignment to sector competency frameworks in collaboration with Learning & Development and sector technical experts.

  • Provide management support and advice to CoPs to be channels for sharing information and best practices, facilitating input into sector technical resources, identifying subject matter experts, establishing research priorities, identifying capacity building needs, building an evidence base for WV’s project models and approaches.

Ensure Accountability:

  • Develop and oversee a system to regularly track sector capability to maintain a portfolio view of sector capability across the Partnership in partnership with peer sector Capability/KM Managers.

  • Establish knowledge and information management systems and processes to ensure cross Partnership learning.

  • Manage development of communications materials to share World Vision WASH’s evidence of impact and programmatic learning.

Promote WV Way:

  • Manage information dissemination throughout the Sector and external audiences, including managing CoP meetings and conference participation.

  • Develop and manage sector Information Newsletters, partnership articles and publications; provides support for the CoPs in the same activities for their programmatic areas.

To digitally enhance the way World Vision approaches storytelling and brand-building by harnessing digital platforms and technologies (e.g. IGTV, Augmented Reality, gamification) and apply current storytelling techniques (e.g. micro-storytelling, data-driven storytelling) and using a zero-waste approach to maximize World Vision’s storytelling content across multiple platforms and mediums globally. The position will play a strong role in helping develop digital strategies to apply key themes, such as impact and transparency, and apply these to storytelling content across platforms and mediums.

This role requires extensive digital platform and digital storytelling experience, specifically in campaign development, digital platform execution and a strong focus on engagement, measurement and reporting, able to demonstrate significant lift in results as an outcome.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing solid and succinct digital / storytelling strategy and executions of how storytelling pieces can be applied to different mediums.

  • Engaging with creative (and other) agencies to brief and review content the agency is creating.

  • This role will need to manage the relationship and have day-to-day engagement with the creative agencies to ensure they are briefed appropriately, that the capture the footage required and that the deliver on time, on budget and on scope.

  • Implementation, monitoring and reporting of storytelling engagement across digital platforms and properties.

  • Engaging with internal teams within World Vision (globally) to understand current storytelling assets (and identification of new assets if required) and implement across various tests, executions and projects.

  • Translation of materials into development of ‘ready-to-market’ materials to be used globally in social feeds, web content etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelors or Masters level degree in marketing, digital or production related disciplines.

  • Technical ability to create, edit and produce digital assets for digital and social mediums.

  • Strong knowledge and high degree of familiarity and experience with current digital and social platforms (and the best means of maximizing content for each medium).

  • Experience in either working in a digital agency or managing day-to-day relationship with digital agencies.

  • Development of sound strategy documentation with demonstrable execution and results.

  • 5+ years in digital + creative industry / roles performing function specializing in digital asset development and platforms.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • MBA or Masters equivalent.

  • 3+ years in NGO sector and solid understanding of NGO fundraising.

  • Preferred experience in digital marketing areas such as: application development, UX, audience targeting, lifecycle marketing, social listening, gamification experience, VR / AR experience.

  • Strong experience in campaign development and digital platform execution with a strong focus on engagement, measurement and reporting, able to demonstrate significant lift in results as a result.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time.

Senior Advisor, Quality and Innovation, Education

*Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate within a jurisdiction (country or US State) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Provides strategic leadership that influences the quality and impact of Education sector programming globally. This will entail the leadership and quality control of key evidence based intervention packages, project models and impact measures in alignment with the Partnership Strategy and ensures integration of distinctive World Vision (WV) development approaches. Champions cross-sector collaboration around scalable innovative solutions. In collaboration with other ministry leaders, oversees the development of sector guidance (including global minimum standards, project models, and capacity-building strategies and curricula, and M&E tools) for WV’s Education sector work in development, fragile contexts and emergency response.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set Strategic Priorities:

  • Within the context of the Partnership strategy, responsible for helping us answer “what sector approaches drive impact”, “what learning can we apply” and ‘what new innovations should we adopt’.

  • Champion cross-sector collaboration around scalable innovative solutions.

  • Develop sector guidance ((including global minimum standards, project models, capacity building strategies and curricula, and M&E tools)

  • Ensure sector guidance is complete, current and practical for field purposes. Ensure that the guidance is actionable without being prescriptive. Ensures it reflects WV’s distinctive of child focused, Christ centered and community empowering.

  • Oversees the quality of sector programming, in alignment with global sectoral approach and prioritized project models.

  • Ensures sector learning and innovation are communicated.

  • With input from Global Field Operations (GFO), provides feedback on the quality of sector programming, in alignment with global sectoral approach and prioritized project models.

Build Capacities:

  • With Technical Service Organization (TSO), build organizational agility and culture that supports quality and innovation in sector programming.

  • Provides thought leadership in order to find evidence based and high impact solutions to sector challenges.

  • WithKnowledge, Capability and Communications Manager , apply sector learning to ensure improvement of sector guidance.

  • Collaborating with other sector innovation leads, design and manage processes to identify, vet and pilot innovative approaches in the sector both from within WV and outside that can maximize WV’s contribution to Child Well Being (CWB) in alignment with strategic priorities.

  • Defines the sector research portfolio and documentation/publication agenda and works with Evidence Building Senior Director on implementation of this agenda.

  • Enable Sector Grant Specialists to leverage innovations happening in WV in donor communications and grant proposals.

Ensure Accountability:

  • With GFO, assesses quality and coverage of WV sector programming within development, disaster and conflict contexts, to support increased quality in sponsorship, grant, and privately funded projects.

Promote WV Way:

  • Champion cross-sector collaboration for integration of sector with other sectors and themes, working closely with other teams and colleagues to integrate our ministry distinctive including faith and development and advocacy and develop global ministry standards.

  • Identifies, explores and acts on improvement opportunities.

External Engagement:

  • Keep abreast of latest developments and innovations in the broader sector that is relevant to WV and share them internally.

  • Benchmark with peers and other relevant organisations to learn best practice and ensure we are cutting edge.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant academic field.

  • In-depth knowledge of sector programming including evidence based sector programming.

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in sector programming in field location.

  • Experience in overseeing or supporting multi country programmes.

  • Experience in grant funded programmes by bilateral and multilateral donors.

  • Experience in working with faith, faith actors and faith related issues in development.
