Africa Regional Public Engagement Manager

*Preferred Location: (Any of the countries in Southern Africa). The final location will be determined by home country of successful candidate in Africa where WVI is registered to operate.


Lead in development of Africa public engagement strategy across all national offices (mass media, social media, digital, campaigns, events) that result in national, regional and global share of voice increasing. Ensure all national offices have increased technical capacity and ability to engage publics through innovative communications in support of their national strategy. The Manager will manage systems and processes that provide quality assurance of all national office public engagement communications throughout Africa’s three regions and provide technical leadership and mentoring to national office Public Engagement communications staff. The Manager will ensure national office public engagement communications is supporting the It Takes A World campaign and Global Moments in partnership with regional and national advocacy, and will lead in the development of targeted regional-level public engagement communications collateral in support of regional resource development, campaigns, and events.


  • Lead in development and on-going management of Africa public engagement strategy across all national offices (mass media, social media, digital, campaigns, events).

  • Manage national offices to increase technical capacity and ability to engage publics through innovative communications in support of their national strategy and provide technical leadership and coaching national office Public Engagement communications staff.

  • Provide quality assurance of all public engagement communications throughout Africa’s three regions.

  • Ensure national office public engagement communications is supporting the It Takes A World campaign in partnership with regional and national advocacy.

  • Development of targeted regional-level public engagement collateral/channels in support of regional business/resourcedevelopment/campaigns.



  • A university degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or other related field or significant directly relevant work experience in lieu of a formal degree.

  • Public or Supporter Engagement and Communications technical leadership, and project management skills in the communications, production, creative industries.

  • A demonstrable track record of working and managing cross-cultural stakeholders and forging strong partnerships.

  • Excellent technical communications skills in one or more of the following areas; editorial, production, design, journalism.

  • Proven ability to produce high quality multi-media content for public or supporter engagement.

  • Strong track record in international development.

  • Agile work ethic – able to quickly develop, implement, learn, adapt, and change.

  • Ability to identify and understand different audiences and utilise appropriate communication channels and content.

  • Experience managing multiple assignments across multiple contexts.

  • Proven ability to effectively coach and train individuals and teams and project manage to deliver outcomes on time.

  • Fluent English is essential; knowledge of one or more regional languages is an asset.


  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, international development. International fieldwork experience required.

  • Solid work experience at a similar level, managing communications for public or supporter engagement in Africa.

Work Environment:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time.

Graphic Designer


Create visual solutions through applying techniques within various forms of media and corporate branding for the production of visual communication materials that meets the specific guidelines of the client/stakeholders’ needs. Support the Child Sponsorship Leadership Team in event management of meetings, conferences, forums, and other administrative tasks.


  • Support in the design, execution and production of concepts across a variety of printed and digital visual communication projects.

  • Assist in designing and integrating graphics, audio and videos in various multimedia projects.

  • Assist in designing, developing, and maintain course materials for stakeholders.

  • Support the Child Sponsorship Leadership Team in event management of meetings, conferences, forums, and other team activities; to assist in coordinating logistics requirements, travel bookings/scheduling and other administrative tasks.


  • Must possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Arts/Design/Creative, Multimedia, Advertising/Media.

  • Proficient in using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).

  • Knowledgeable in using Video Editing Software (Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere).

  • Knowledgeable in using eLearning Authoring Tools (Adobe Captivate, Articulate Rise).

  • With at least 2 years work experience as a graphic artist/designer.


Position: Public Relations and Advocacy Manager

Ensure that the organization’s public relation and advocacy activities are focused on the objectives of the National and Regional Strategies, giving World Vision a profile, authority and position within Albania & Kosovo that enables it to reach its programmatic and fundraising goals.To provide leadership to the Communications Team by prioritizing and managing day-to-day work while establishing and maintaining positive relationships with a variety of publics (media and non-media).

Advisor, Communications (External Engagement)

Reporting to the Director of External Engagement Communications, the advisor will build World Vision’s reputation as a leading child-focused development, advocacy and disaster management agency by evidencing our field impact and expertise across our core technical sectors, and by promoting our thought leadership. He/she will be working to secure an increase in grants and private partnerships income, to maximise our influence on policy, and to advocate for children and communities affected by disasters, poverty or other vulnerabilities.


Reputation, profile and positioning for income growth and policy influence:

  • Develop and lead implementation of targeted external engagement and communications plans for pre-positioning with key global funding and policy bodies, and other powerholders, to create appropriate environment for resource development and humanitarian and development policy.

  • In collaboration with a variety of teams in Global Centre Marketing and Communications, as well as other World Vision offices, design and drive communications strategies and annual plans for key moments to reach powerholders.

Identify and manage reputation risk:

  • Work closely with World Vision's risk advisors to plan proactive and reactive communications plans to address potential risk scenarios associated with the contexts in which Disaster Management works.

  • Equip and support external engagement, media and social media teams to identify, manage and mitigate key disaster management-related risk issues.


  • Work with Disaster Management staff to ensure World Vision's technical expertise has a compelling, comprehensive, engaging digital presence.

  • Deploy to field and/or travel key external fora.


  • Masters level qualifications in Strategic Communications, Organisational Development, Business Administration, Journalism, Marketing or equivalent.

  • Ten years’ experience in marketing, or communications fields with minimum five years at a senior management level.

  • Three years working in humanitarian or emergency response industry.

  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English.

  • Strategic approach to reputation, positioning and communications planning and knowledge of audience engagement.
