World Vision Zambia (WVZ) Limited is a faith-based Organization dealing with Relief aid, Development, and Advocacy dedicated to working with children, families, and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. WVZ is part of World Vision International and serves all people regardless of religion, race, tribe, or gender. We are currently working on 38 large-scale programs in over 30 districts in Zambia.

Position: Digital Media and Graphic Design Officer

Reporting to: Marketing and Branding Specialist

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Purpose of the Position

The Digital Media and Graphic Design Officer will support the Resource Acquisition, Communications and Humanitarian Response Department and will focus on creative campaign design; marketing planning; web content generation; graphic and media design; and managing our online presence. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the visual aspects of WVZ Local Fundraising website; development of marketing products and communication materials; development of creative and effective print and electronic marketing /public awareness materials that utilize best stories/testimonials, program outcomes and engaging images. The candidate needs to have a creative flair and a strong ability to translate requirements into design.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the creation of all digital content such as website, blogs, infographics, videos etc. with technical teams, field staff, advocacy and communications

  • Ensure fresh content on all relevant digital media and monitor/track success by monitoring traffic on the site/pages. Provide website analytics and suggest strategies and methods for improvement

  • Develop marketing products and communication materials that illustrate and enhance

  • communication around World Vision's work on issues affecting children and ensure the WVI brand guidelines are followed on all publications and other materials

  • Stay up-to-date with digital media technologies and latest trends

  • Prepares final layout print-ready files of art.

  • Apply design skills - typography, the handling and manipulation of images, freehand graphics, and basic design elements

  • Assist in the planning, managing and execution of events

  • Work to improve the WVZ brand presence

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:

  • BSc Degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Digital Media or relevant field

  • Additional qualification in web design or animation is a plus

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as Digital Media Officer or Digital Marketing Officer or similar role

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with visual communication methods 

  • Extensive knowledge of design software and technologies, such as Adobe Creative Suites, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Corel Draw, or other media editing software

  • Knowledge of web design

  • Must be a committed Christian, attend/lead in daily devotions and attend Chapel

Branding and Communication Division Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION

As part of the senior leadership team, reporting into the Resource Development Director with matrix to the National Director, this role will lead and manage the Branding and Communications (B&C) division to strengthen and protect WVFT's brand and enhance its reputation as a trusted partner for child wellbeing in Thailand. The position will ensure stories about WVFT's work with vulnerable children and communities and its impact are well told and understood by both external and internal stakeholders, and leaders and staff are recognised and trusted as ambassadors for WVFT and child wellbeing.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategy and planning

- Lead the development of WVFT integrated B&C strategy and planning in support of strategic objectives. This will involve:

- aligning with relevant global and regional strategies

- ensuring application of relevant branding, messaging and quality standards & guidelines

- driving communications quality, innovation and digital capability

- setting a social media strategy to guide staff on use for public engagement

- partner with media agencies to scale-up media engagement

2. Strategy implementation - communications management

Lead the effective performance of the B&C division in providing direct, support and quality assurance to ensure effective communications management for: Donor/public engagement & resource acquisition, Emergency communications & Media relations, High-level advocacy, Internal communications

This includes content design, production, positioning, use of social media platforms, WVFT website, major events, campaigns, montoring external environment

3. Strategy implementation - employees

Ensure leaders and staff are inspired and engaged by stories of WVFT work and its impact and are equipped to act as trusted spokespeople. This involves:

- close collaboration with Advocacy team to ensure compelling content development and its use in support of Public Affairs and Advocacy activities

- preparing leaders as required for major events, activities

- equipping staff with the required knowledge and skills to act as WVFT ambassadors

4. B&C Division effectiveness

Provide direction and support to build B&C division capability and performance:

- Facilitate planning, reviews, learning, risk management

- Ensure division staff with right mix of skills

- Model behaviours thar enable staff to live-out WVFT core values

1. A Bachelor degree or equivalent in communications/ creative management/ public relations/ journalism.

2. At least 7 years experience in leading and managing communications and production teams in international NGOs or Creative Industries

4. Advanced communications technical skills such as story-telling, photo and video production, editorial, graphic design, and media relations

5. Proven experience in managing and developing others

Regional Communications and Public Engagement Director

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Director of Communications and Public Engagement is responsible for the strategic direction and successful implementation of communications and public engagement work across the southern Africa region. The role will lead efforts to strengthen World Vision’s reputation and influence, building trust with key audiences for greater organisational impact. The Director will provide oversight of core communications business, including content production, media and digital, risk management and internal engagement across all countries where World Vision works in the region. As a key member of the regional leadership team, the Director will ensure the quality planning and delivery of high-impact communications for local to global audiences, in support of World Vision’s Partnership strategy, Our Promise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Communications Leadership:

  • In partnership with the regional office, field offices across the region and the Global Marketing and Communications team, the director leads and executes an integrated communications strategy to build World Vision’s reputation and brand with key audiences.

  • The role directs work that encourages innovation in order to optimise ways of working, increase stewardship of resources and strengthen the quality of communications deliverables for the World Vision Partnership.

  • Advises Regional Leadership and National Directors in field offices across the region on strategic reputation, brand and communications opportunities and issues to elevate understanding, performance and accountability across the region.

  • Leads communications efforts which contribute to supporting Partnership fundraising and brand priorities such as Leapfrog, Chosen™, Childhood Rescue, grant acquisition and communicating evidence of impact that builds trust.

  • Directs response communications in humanitarian emergencies to ensure Partnership media and fundraising needs are met through talent mobilisation and provision of targeted content, proactive and reactive messaging and media spokespersons.

  • Collaborates closely with regional office colleagues to strengthen effectiveness of operations and deliver maximum value to field offices.

  • Leads communications work around the global campaign It Takes A World to End Violence Against Children, agreed Global Moments, disasters, fragile contexts, and key regional engagement initiatives.

  • Represents communications issues and priorities to World Vision’s communications network and the Partnership through forums such as the Communications Leadership Council.

  • Is an active member of the Regional Communications Leadership Team, sharing and scaling best practice across field programmes globally.

Reputation Risk Management:

  • As the regional focal point on reputation risk management in the region, the role will identify, assess and coordinate World Vision responses to current or potential issues. The Director will escalate major issues and messaging to Global Centre risk specialists as part of the Integrated Risk Management approach.

  • The Director will socialise a proactive risk management approach with leaders across the region, identifying opportunities to build reputation and decrease impact of specific risk issues.

Content Development Leadership:

  • Directs and oversees production of high-quality, child-focused content/multi-media packages to meet World Vision’s priority audience needs, including advocacy and external engagement, grant acquisition and other fundraising and resource development activities at regional level.

  • Efforts enable delivery of high-quality content packages from within the team as well as oversight of content produced from across the region for global use.

  • Promotes wise stewardship of resources through content sharing and trip and assignment planning and coordination.

Media/Social Media Leadership:

  • Directs an aligned and engaging digital presence that leverages World Vision’s strategy through oversight of regional office digital platforms, managed in-house, and quality assurance of national accounts.

  • Engages media at regional level, in coordination with Partnership media managers, to maximise positioning opportunities with targeted outlets, developing regional spokespersons and messaging as needed.

Team Operations and Management:

  • The role performance manages a core team of communications specialists and associates. Together they will deliver a focused portfolio of first-class content, media and engagement work covering development, humanitarian affairs and advocacy ministry that supports income and influence goals.

  • Region-wide coordination and management national teams, through a matrix relationship will include coordination with national leadership to ensure that teams are high performing, delivering on Partnership priorities and advising on capacity gaps.

  • Peer facilitation will be provided to clusters of like-context national communications teams for learning, sharing and accelerated delivery of communications objectives.

Internal Engagement:

  • Leads the development and implementation of an internal engagement approach and plan that connects, informs and inspires leaders and staff across the region around our local to global operations through the lens of operations across southern Africa, building ambassadors for our work through all offices.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least ten years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communications, marketing/PR, journalism – at least three years senior/director level experience demonstrated.

  • Experience leading a team in the international humanitarian sector. Background/familiarity in disaster management communications.

  • Leading and supervising, formulating strategies and concepts, relating and networking, persuading and influencing, entrepreneurial thinking.

  • Adopts thinking that is informed by context and practice, and shows consistency of treatment and a clear strategic focus. Able to select and evaluate critical information to plan and manage communications and public engagement for local/regional entity.

  • Solid/advanced work experience at a similar level, leading communications and public engagement strategies in the NGO or private sector.

Donor Liaison Officer

Position: Donor Liaison Officer

Report to: Communications Manager

Location: Kampala - National Officer

Purpose of the position:

Lead the National Office servicing of WVUS Major & Mega donors, Ministry & Church Partners and school partnerships. The Donor Liaison will collaborate with appropriate WVUS Departments and Channels and the appropriate National Office Departments to enhance the overall donor experience. The expected result is increased financial support of National Office programs, increased awareness and advocacy for National Office programs and strategy. The results will include a mutual transformation of donors, beneficiaries and staff. When travel resumes, the Donor Liaison will be expected to host WVUS donor visits, plan and produce high quality deliverables that demonstrate program impact at the individual beneficiary level through photos, stories, and video. As time permits beyond their WVUS work, the Donor Liaison will collaborate and support the Communications Team with documentation/gathering significant change stories, photography, videos and media visibility.

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

Donor Relations

  • Work with World Vision U.S (WVUS) Donor Liaison Managers (DLMs), Vision Trip Managers, and Trip Leaders to design, facilitate and host WVUS donors while adhering to all visitor requirements and standards. When travel resumes, donors that visit will HNW, Church/Chosen, Team World Vision, and others.

  • Develop virtual experiences for donors through Custom Calls, Virtual Vision Trips, Chosen Calls, Ignite School Calls, and other creative requests that come from WVUS clients. Accommodate new dimension of virtual work that allows face-to-face donor experiences, through excellent planning and execution.

Delivering Donor-Facing Tools for WVUS

  1. Gathering & writing Impact Stories

  2. Videos & Selfie Videos

  3. Photography

  • These tools are an essential conduit of resources for the reps in all WVUS channels (Philanthropy, Church, Team World Vision, CHOSEN, Schools, and more).

Contributing to the WVUS Donor Liaison (Dl) Team

  • Collaborate with other World Vision US Donor Liaison officers in 10 countries to share learnings and best practices.

  • Attend DL cross-trainings through exposure visits.

  • Attend DL online meetings and make required presentations.

  • Attend DL monthly training calls with the DLMs & Team.

Reputation & Influence

  • Using Looking Outward and Wise Stewardship as guiding behaviours, the Donor Liaison will support as their time permits:

  • Production of digital content and engagements that promote the WVUS & WVI brand. Work to ensure that all content produced is child centred and complies to the WVUS/WVI safeguarding standards.

  • Mainstream Media: Support the generation of editorial features.

  • Reputation Management: Respond in a timely manner to all reputation incidents that will be assigned.

  • Generate Field Fundraising Content: Deliver on WVUS Support Office content needs, produce monthly impact stories and ensure they are uploaded on a the WVU hub.

Internal Engagements

Through Unity and Trust and Looking Outward, the Donor Liaison will:

  1. Support to orient program teams on capturing stories, photos and videos: Providing writing templates and virtual trainings.

  2. Collaborate with the Communications, People and Culture teams to organize National Office Staff events, if time permits based on WVUS commitments.

External Engagement

The Donor Liaison will, if time permits, based on WVUS commitments:

  1. Participate in advocacy events and activities.

Learning and Growth

  • The Donor Liaison will participate in a series of trainings and mentorship programs to develop Communications competencies that will enable him/her to deliver their assignments effectively.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.

  • Bachelors degree required with preference in Communications, Journalism, Community Development, or related field of study required

  • At least one years experience with still photography, videography, and story writing style of communication.

  • Understanding of transformational development and ability to translate technical language into language that is easily understandable by donors – required.

  • Experience of hosting or working with US groups of donors or visitors highly preferred.

Manager, Marketing Communications

This role will be accountable for developing and implementing global marketing campaign strategies that drive brand health, acquire new donors, generate revenue and achieve significant increases in engagement.

Working closely with different internal stakeholders and World Vision International campaign leaders around the globe, this position will lead collaborative efforts that result in go-to-market global campaigns that are scalable, high impact and localized for relevance. The role will be accountable for understanding and integrating donor and market insights that will meet distinct audience needs and drive significant appeal. Campaign strategy and execution will also be insights-driven to inform all aspects of the campaign.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use a strong insights approach to develop and execute global marketing campaign strategies.

  • Use a collaborative approach in building campaigns working with internal key stakeholders to achieve maximum engagement and impact.

  • Use global learnings and work with functional experts to design campaign elements which maximise audience targeting, engagement and response and manage the campaign development process to integrate into multi-channel campaigns.

  • Develop and review campaign metrics to identify areas for rapid refinement and modification of media mix.

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of audience specific needs, market-by-market and incorporate these insights into all marketing and “always on” campaigns to drive consumer response.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Degree or equivalent career experience in Marketing or related discipline.

  • At least 5-8 years’ experience in a marketing manager or campaign manager role, developing and implementing successful marketing campaign strategies and executions (with demonstrated high ROI).

  • Experience in managing creative projects across multiple mediums (TV / streaming, digital, social, DM etc.) is a highly desirable.

  • Proven success developing and managing successful marketing campaigns that deliver or exceed targeted results.

  • Strong knowledge of integrated multi-channel campaigns as well as digital and social media best practices.

  • Strong critical-thinking skills in understanding metrics and research insights to inform creative strategy development and implementation.
