Local Coordinator

Job Description


The purpose of this position is to implement and coordinate all the activities in the Plan of Action for the “Improving living conditions and reintegration of Migrant and Returned Children in Albania” project in Lezha area, which is regularly updated in collaboration with the project team based on the different components of the project.


  • Responsible for the implementation with quality and in due time of the projectactivities, based on the project Plan of Action (PoA).

  • Responsible for the monitoring of the planned activities implemented by local partners through participation in all project activities organized in Lezha municipality

  • Keeping budget and expenditures records and controlling that expenditures do not exceed limits as specified in the budgets, and keeping regular communication with the project team to inform on the achievements, difficulties and unexpected events

  • Performs all financial expenses in the activities of the project in Lezha municipality and follows up on financial expenses based on the guidance of technical and finance staff

  • Designs and coordinates the calendar of actvitites together with partners

  • Creates implementation synergies between partners

  • Responsible for the implementation of the monitoring and evaluation plan of the project in the specific region, by gathering and keeping regular data as by approved system

  • Get continuously informed on the risks, challenges, phenomena and improvements or progress related to migration, by continues communication with local stakeholders, community members and children

  • Facilitates and conducts parenting program sessions for families at risk or returning from unsafe migration including parenting classes, peer parenting support groups in vulnerable communities;

  • Strengthen the local institutions capacities in delivering the parenting program in continuity, beyond the duration of the present project

  • Proactively and regularly identifies and refers cases of families and children at risk including those from unsafe migration or returned according to case management procedures and formats, including cases in need of economic empowerment support;

  • Supports the mobile service unit to establish and update a system/ database for cases that will benefit from the mobile community service with focus on migration, children at risk or vulnerable

  • Facilitates and coordinates of the community counseling group and its activities for the identification and referral of vulnerable or at risk cases in the community or their activities with other community members

  • Facilitates and coordinates peer support group operating in the school and coaches the school staff to regularly facilitate the group

  • Initiates and conducts the awareness raising activities on child protection and unsafe migration issues

  • Guides, coaches and monitors awareness raising activities organized by children groups, local stakeholder including school, CPU, community center; and partners in the city area of Lezha

  • Coordinates with local government, non-governmental organization, business and media in planning and implementing joint initiatives on prevention unsafe migration.


  • Bachelor or University Degree

  • Previous relevant work experience

  • Experience with community development programs (preferred)

  • Strong understanding and skills in project management

  • Creative and able to apply innovative thinking, partnership building and problem solving skills

  • Good facilitation skills, including catalyzing, connecting, and building collaboration with community groups, stakeholders and partners

  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity, abilities to work as a team

  • Effective in written and oral communication

  • Computer literacy; strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point etc

  • Willingness to be flexible with hours when necessary and able to travel often in the field
