The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for World Vision Australia (WVA) leads a team of passionate professionals and in collaboration with other members of the Executive Team enables WVA’s achievement of strategy through:
Overseeing the overall financial health of the organisation and is a champion for good financial literacy, management and governance.
Strategic financial insight to enable growth in WVA’s impact and access to resources for our mission.
This role works in close cooperation with the CEO and members of WVA’s leadership team to set appropriate goals, to create plans and opportunities for the maximum benefit of the organisation, as well as providing oversight and risk management of the allocation of funding overseas and grant financial management.
The key accountabilities for this role are:
Contribute strategically and operationally to enterprise-wide leadership as member of the WVA Leadership Team and influence into the World Vision Partnership.
Strategic financial leadership - including the leadership of strategic investment at WVA, strategic financial input provided to the long-term growth & retention strategy, leadership of organisation business planning and leading business improvement capability to support efficient, cost effective operations. The leader will set a vision and execute need finance functional performance both within in Australia and is a key influencing role in the global partnership.
Fiscal leadership – including the submission of annual plan on time and to standard, application of financial management policies, processes, and systems comply with statutory and accounting standards requirements and financial management systems meet reporting and business needs on a timely basis.
Corporate services leadership – specifically legal services and risk management services including WVA’s internal audit plan approved by Board and senior leadership.
People Leadership– through investing and growing team capability including developing talent and succession plans, ensuring individual and team behaviour reflects organisation values and culture and through driving high levels of team engagement to enable and underpin performance.
Christian leadership – through inspiring and motivating others to engage with our Christian identity which powers our mission. Through personal commitment, reflection, sharing how that Christian identity shapes you and prayer.
This role is a permanent role operating in a full-time capacity and will be based at our head office in Burwood East, Victoria. Although we are open to the role being based in other locations provided an appropriate travel commitment is made to support the team innovation the ground in Melbourne.
Who we are looking for…
The successful Leader will possess the following qualifications, knowledge and experience:
Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or similar;
Australian certified accountant (CPA or CA);
Best practice accounting in Australia and internationally (accounting standards);
Knowledge of Christian principles demonstrated through a personal expression of Christian faith;
Strategic financial leadership in a large organisation at senior management and/or board level;
Experience coordinating multi-functional operations and balancing competing demands for funds and other resources;
Strategic organisational-wide transformational leadership within a medium to large business;
Leading and managing teams to achieve both high performance and high engagement across functions that include: finance, legal, audit, risk, procurement and business planning;
Leading business functions within an organisation to achieve strong customer satisfaction;
Experience leading significant process and or systems transformations in the finance or corporate services space.
