Grants Officer - Nutrition

Job Description

Purpose of the position

The purpose of this position is to implement the B4MCN project nutrition interventions, to ensure the operations by coordinating the project implementation, monitoring and evaluation in the assigned province.

  1. Implement the nutrition activities of the project as per the approved budgets, scope & timeline at province level

  • Monthly DIP implemented within the assigned province

  • At least 95 % of planned budget is timely spent

  1. Ensure that all project approaches and activities, reporting tools & documentation are clearly understood and implemented accordingly;

Ensure timely and high quality implementation of all planned activities in the province of assignment;

Communicate timely to Grant Manager any changes or adjustments needed to the plan

  • 100 % of activities are timely implemented

  • Approaches understood (such as FARN, MSG, GMP) and supplementary feeding programmes under the project are correctly implemented with high quality standards

  1. Provide adequate support to planned studies (baseline and project evaluation surveys) and help the M&E staff in close collaboration with other external partners at provincial level

  • Quality study reports timely produced

  • Project monitoring tools are understood and used by project staff and partners

  1. Working closely with the Grant Supervisor - Nutrition, monitor the use of business process implementation of maternal and child nutrition enhancement project to ensure that the program is aligned with WV, donor and other relevant standards

  • 100 % of planned outputs per month are achieved according to donor requirements

  • Provincial project coordinators use developed business implementation path to plan and coordinate project activities planned in the province

  1. Participate in regular project coordination meetings at province level and participate in the national coordination and project learning forums

  • Regular coordination meetings are held with the participation of key project stakeholders

  • National project coordination and learning forums are held (or attended)

  1. Support to produce regular project reports at provincial level

  • 100% of regular management reports timely submitted according to WVB quality standards and donor requirements


Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

  • Bachelor in Nutrition or Public Health with a relevant field experience in coordination of public health and nutrition projects: Masters in Nutrition or Public Health is an added value.

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience working with Non-Governmental Organizations in health and nutrition project coordination

  1. Advanced project management skills and good understanding of the project life cycle

  2. Good understanding of best practices in nutrition and community development

  3. Experience with development project management tools such as log frames, monitoring and evaluation tools and budgets.

  4. Excellent supervision skills, including training, mentoring and supporting staff

  5. Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including report-writing and formal communication skills.

  6. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Lotus Notes (or another main email system such as Microsoft Outlook).

  7. Fluency in French and English.

  8. Good understanding of World Vision and Sphere relief standards.

  9. Knowledge of and adherence to the Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct.

  • Oral and written communication skills in English, Kirundi and French - Essential

Work Environment:

Complete Travel and/or Work Environment statements if applicable.

  • Domestic Travel: Regular internal travel to project areas is required

  • On call: As required

  • Position will work directly with project staff and implementing partners

  • Huge work load may requires work beyond regular office time

  • Child friendly working environment exits in the project team
