Senior Grant Accountant (Re-Advertised)

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To coordinate the implementation of accounting activities within the PACEF project in line with UNICEF and partnership guidelines and policies in accounting.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure preparation of financial source documents, review for authenticity, source accuracy, updates, and completeness and maintain robust filing system according to WVI/B and UNICEF guidelines

  • Implement designed internal controls at the program/project, monitor its effectiveness on daily basis as per WV policies and donor’s requirements

  • Prepare and Consolidate program/project annual budgets and cash flows in line with partnership guidelines, standards and policies

  • Prepare and submit periodic Program Financial reports, analyse and share with stakeholders at the Program and Project’s management as per line management is concerned and in accordance with reporting guidelines

  • Conduct capacity building on financial matters at the project level for the project team

  • Participate in fleet management and other admin work in line with partnership policies and donor requirements

  • Ensure timely processing of vendors’ invoices/payments.

  • Prepare, maintain and submit assets reconciliation reports, asset registers and ensure periodic assets physical verification

Prepare and submit periodic program/project funding as per approved budgets and project finance report

Ensure timely management response and complete implementation of project/program audit recommendations

Ensure that the project utilize less or zero cash for projects participants

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required:University Degree in Accounting, business administration or related field

  • Experience: 2 years working experience as a cashier/accountant

  • Preferred: 3 years’ experience as an accountant in an INGO

  • Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word & Sun-systems software.

Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Must be ready to support organization that upholds Christian values, able to stand above denominational diversities.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Demonstrated ability in supervision

  • Good planning and organizational skills

  • Customer service approach in using tact and diplomacy in dealing with staff-related to work environment needs

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Project -based

  • Travel: 15% Domestic travel is required.

  • On call: 10%
