PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

An exciting opportunity to play a vital role in optimizing the business value we provide to the World Vision mission, by ensuring we are focused on the right things at the right times to maximize the benefit to our strategic goals.

This position will support leaders and teams to make decisions on what we do more/less of, how we do it, who needs to be involved, identify potential dependencies and roadblocks that could impede progress, and facilitate knowledge and change management for the entire GMC portfolio. The Agile Portfolio Manager will help to implement, facilitate and improve the way we work through lean practices; empowering our team; aligning our work to our global strategy; and facilitating value-driven sustainable outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Value Optimisation & Benefits Realisation:

  • Identify strategic business value mapped to programmes and projects and assisting with short term and long term goal setting.

  • Develop best practices and tools to drive business outcomes and create visibility and collaboration among stakeholders for timely decision making across the portfolio.

  • Promote process changes and gain adoption on new processes pertaining to intake and prioritization.

Portfolio Oversight & Continuous Improvement:

  • Facilitate continuous improvement of PMO processes; participate in agile ceremonies (scrum of scrum).

  • Oversee complex strategic cross-organizational programs & projects to facilitate successful delivery of business value.

  • Drive collaboration and communication necessary to ensure portfolio success, including integration of programs, projects and dependencies.

  • Act as the point of escalation for risks, issues and obstacles.

Capacity & Strategic Investment Planning & Management:

  • Apply Lean portfolio management methodology, standards and governance.

  • Critical thinking skills to gather and analyze information from a variety of sources and ensure resource investment is applied for greatest return.

  • Manage project administration tasks like budget review, planning, road maps and overall strategy for resource and investment model.

Change Champion & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Contribute to keeping business areas and stakeholders informed of progress and changes being implemented across the portfolio in collaboration with Internal Communications team communication strategy and plans.

Portfolio Reporting & Strategic Analysis:

  • Define and create portfolio execution performance metrics and reporting.

  • Work with teams to gather progress and performance data, mitigation plans for delivery risk.

  • Make recommendations as required for strategic shifts and re-prioritization of efforts to increase impact on benefit delivery & business outcomes.

  • Seek data and reporting efficiency opportunities and implement automation where possible.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience.

  • PMP, PgMP or PfMP certification through PMI.

  • 7 years work experience in direct project or program management, of which 2 years spent directing project portfolios.

  • 1-2 years work experience in agile & lean practices (Lean Six Sigma, Agile frameworks, etc.)

  • Proven experience handling high degree of complexity, competing demands, and significant responsibility with minimal supervision.

  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to collaboration; able to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation.

  • Proven negotiation skills as this role requires strong capacity to influence and support a diverse and global staff through extensive change and potentially challenging decisions.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • SAFe Release Train Engineer, SAFe SPC4, SAFe LPM, CAL or CSM certification would be an asset.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.

  • Familiarity with productivity tools such as Smartsheet, MS Team, Zoom, Google suite and Outlook.

  • Familiarity with financial and data analytics tools such as Excel and PowerBI.

  • Experience in working virtually and internationally across cultures and within complex organisational structures.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
