GL Accountant

Finance Department.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To support accounting processes within the GL department, as detailed in the major responsibilities, as requested by customers, timely and correctly according to Month End and Year End calendar deliverables, by ensuring the compliance of all internal controls, Partnership Finance Manual and General Accounting principles.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To prepare and analyze bank and 300 account reconciliations

  2. To make and post Settlement Advices and control of the pre-approvals due dates, this also includes SAs submission (Accounts Receivables portion) for other offices

  3. To prepare Aging Analysis for reporting purposes, including the monitoring of late balances

  4. To review and record all Credit Card expenses reports (only for LACRO)

  5. Upload/import journal entries and adjustments

  6. Control and monitoring of AR of NO related to fixed charges (only for LACRO)

  7. To complete and review documentation for payment purposes and procedure (only for LACRO, without payment execution)

  8. To prepare and send a variety of reports, as needed by customers

  9. Record and control of Direct Charges

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Technical degree in accounting or advanced university studies in Accounting (Third year minimum)

  2. Bachelor´s degree with a major in Finance, business or accounting or advanced studies in bachelor degree ( preferred)

  3. Functional knowledge of accounting processes

  4. Flexibility and ability to work on different aspects of the general ledger

  5. A good knowledge of best practices within a project accounting environment and how to drive performance through better behaviors

  6. Ability to perform and direct root cause analysis over various aspects of performance

  7. Knowledge of technology; including data structure, analysis codes and business rules

  8. Familiarity with multidimensional reporting concepts and structures

  9. Understanding of internal control elements and best financial practices

  10. Good written and oral communication skills

  11. Ability to work in a team environment

  12. Highly organized

  13. Ability to meet strict deadlines

  14. Excellent customer service skills

  15. Demonstrated strong work ethic and flexible hours as needed; ability to drive results and meet strict deadlines

  16. At least one or more years of experience in working in a General Ledger department

  17. Good experience in accounting and financial systems (at least one year of experience in any accounting system)

  18. Proficient in using Finance ERP solutions

  19. Good knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  20. Fluent in spoken and written business English or Portuguese desirable
