*Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate within the Middle East & Eastern European Region where WVI is registered to operate.

The purpose of this roles is to contribute and support the Faith in Development (FinD) Regional efforts to align with the FinD related initiatives as captured in WV Partnership Strategy Our Promise 2030 and the roll out of the emerging FinD strategic framework focusing on three areas: enhanced understanding, practice and planning.

  • Enhanced understanding: The officer will support/assist the local field offices and contribute to the spiritual nurture of staff as (s)he aids them in realizing and aligning with our Christian identity and potential, in a manner conducive to the ecumenical, multi-faith and fragile (or conflict prone) character of the region contributing to strengthening/deepening our staff understanding of Transformational Development ministry.

  • Practice: The officer shall ensure that the ‘understanding’ informs & leads to ‘practice’ through the articulation of TD/FinD matters into programs/grants projects as well as roll out of the current FinD related project models (CoH for Child Protection, Celebrating Families, SKYE).

  • Planning: The officer, as part of the FinD team, will assist in preparations for the find function future in the region. This will include engagement in the areas of research, partnering and grant acquisition in order to achieve a broader, higher quality and sustainable impact for the vulnerable children World Vision serves.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Resource development & External Engagement

  1. Research

    • Contribution to the articulation of a high-level framework that addresses the inter-section between theological understanding, Church social teaching and humanitarian practice as it pertains to ministry to youth and children.

    • Deepened organization understanding of fragility and the role of faith and response in a given intervention/response area (areas for consideration e.g social cohesion, conflict transformation, reconciliation etc).

  2. Grant acquisition and management

    • Working towards the sustainable future of the regional FinD initiative.

  3. Partnering

    • Mapping, engaging and maintaining partnerships, predominately with faith actors.

  4. Spiritual nurture

    • The facilitation of devotions/reflections/prayer activities that contribute the spiritual well-being of colleagues and our work.

  5. Training

Design, deliver, contribute to or facilitate learning events that will solidify or otherwise enhance staff understanding of WVs Christian identity.

Administration

  1. Coordination

    • Working with FinD Practitioners group to offer support and/or facilitate reporting processes, learning events and other regional FinD requests.

  2. Assist

Supporting the Regional FinD Director with administrative tasks (e.g setting meetings, organizing travel arrangements, following up after meeting partners, reports and communication pieces writing, etc).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications related to the field of faith and development.

  2. Knowledge (and preferably experience of) the region, ecumenical and religious divergence and fragile contexts.

  3. A minimum of two years of work experience.

  4. Experience of working in an International Non Govermental Organiztion (preferably faith based).

  5. Experience in working in a predominately English speaking environment.

The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
