Network Administrator

Job Description

Network Administrator – Job Purpose

He / She is responsible for providing daily operations support and maintenance for Network/Telecom systems. The successful candidate will work as a team member on medium to large projects, working on systems/issues that are low to highly complex in nature.

The Package

  • The position is based in Accra with some level of domestic travel.

  • S/He reports to the IT Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in recommending the direction for LAN/WAN, internet, wireless, and remote access services.

  • Determines requirements impact on existing architecture, work processes and systems.

  • Assists in determining infrastructure systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

  • Deploys and reviews new, modified or enhanced system hardware and software components or services.

  • Researches, analyzes and implements software or hardware changes to rectify any issues.

  • Configures and maintains routers, switches and hubs for the enterprises network.

  • Analyzes and resolves issues related to facilities bandwidth requirements, capacity planning, and analyzes system interdependencies.

  • Sets-up and conducts point-to-point or multiple-point conferencing for meetings, sharing of documents, computer displayed information and whiteboard.

  • Monitors network/ telecommunications activity and logs problems.

  • Provides documentation, training, and guidance for computing system clients and programmers.

  • Conducts technical research on network/telecommunications upgrades and components to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system.

Education / Work Experience / Critical Competencies

  • First Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field.

  • Typically requires 3 - 5 years of relevant IT work experience.

  • 4 years working experience, 2 of which should have been in a network administration context

  • Operating systems and basic computer hardware components.

  • Good working knowledge of the following operating systems: - Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003.

  • Good Knowledge of computer and network security and ability to deal with external and internal security threats.

  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.

  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English.

  • Experience in Lotus Domino server administration
