Sponsorship & Child Protection Officer


Purpose of the position:

To coordinate and provide technical support for the implementation of Sponsorship Business Processes, Sponsorship in Programming, child protection and participation programming, End child marriage now campaign and advocacy to support WV Ghana’s strategic outcomes and effectively address the issues of child well-being in the cluster.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Provide training and coaching support to staff, services personnel and local partners involved in the process of technical and operational management of sponsorship

  2. Ensure regular monitoring of children is done at the AP level according to the WV standards and regularly discuss the results with partners and program staff

  3. Ensure quality communication between child, family and sponsor and that all sponsorship business processes and new initiatives respect WV standards at the cluster level

  4. Ensure Cluster staff and Community Partners understand and implement the basic approach of Sponsorship in Programming, and how communities can be transformed through the two essentials (Community-led care & protection, Children’s participation and voice).

  5. Train partners, focal points persons, program staff and support services staff to facilitate the implementation and monitoring of a CP Incidence Preparedness Plan (CPIPP) and an effective Child Protection Reporting and Referral mechanism at AP and cluster level thereby ensuring that cases of child abuse are promptly and effectively managed

  6. Initiate local level advocacy at the cluster level to improve the quality of Child Protection service delivery in view of facilitating the establishment of a strong District and community based child protection mechanism that prevents, responds to and protects children from abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence

  7. Engage/involve all programs and support services staff and partners in the technical and operational management of sponsorship and child protection and participation processes for an effective and efficient monitoring of indicators of well-being of children in the targeted communities.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Educational level required Bachelors degree Social Science disciplines or related field.

  • Experience: 2 years of experience in development work.

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Cluster Operation -based with frequent travel to the AP

  • Travel: 40% Domestic/international travel is required.

  • On call: 15%
