Job Description

Child Protection Case Worker (Duhok)

Purpose of position:

To support Protection interventions for boys and girls aged 3-18 through Psychosocial, recreational and informal education activities.

To support the program design for Child Friendly Spaces targeting age between 6-18, and train national staff members on CFS modules and how to relate with young children.

To supervise staff and volunteers in CFS based on detailed implantation plan and sector minimum standards.

To help the project in whatever it needs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Capacity Building of Staff / Volunteer

  1. In coordination with EiE Manager, and implementing partner PAO NGO, recruit appropriate CFS animators

  2. All the staff and volunteers are trained on required topics, including Child Protection, CFS management, communication with children, creative activities, positive discipline etc

  3. Closely observe performance of each staff and volunteer, provide timely advice and appreciation

2.Support program design, and creative activities in CFS

  1. Together with CFS project coordinator, support animators to create bi-weekly activity schedule for CFS

  2. Continue searching for Early Childhood and Development activity materials, and adopt to CFS activities accordingly

  3. Advice Children’s program team about the appropriateness of toys, stationary and furniture for children

3. Case Management of children in CFS

  1. Identify the vulnerable children who are and attending CFS and keep good record with confidentiality

  2. facilitate a case management discussion with animators, parents and families when necessary

  3. Refer the cases when children and their families require specialized services

4. Strengthening the community engagement and networks

  1. Together with CFS facilitators, organize monthly parents meeting to share the achievements of children;

  2. Together with the EiE Project Manager, and the implementing partners PAO/Zewa NGOs, create awareness raising modules for parents about child protection, child care and psychosocial impact on parents and children

  3. Document any feedback provided by parents or children about CFS activities, and take actions to improve the activities

5. Meet internal and external reporting requirements

  1. Submit weekly, monthly, annual activity report to CiE Manager

  2. Based on the donor requirement, support CiE manager to submit required donor report

  3. Support CiE manager to submit information and report to Inter-agency WGs

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

  • At least Bachelor’s degree on social science (social work, education, psychology, sociology or any other relevant field.)

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience with children (teaching, nursery, social work, etc.)

  • Native Kurdish, Fluent in both English and Arabic (speaking and writing).

  • Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package.

  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.

  • Ability to work in difficult and high risk situations.

  • Ability to cope and work under pressure.

  • Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team.

  • Familiar with Humanitarian Principles and standards.

  • Familiar with sector minimum standards and guidelines such as Minimum Standards for CP in Humanitarian Actions, Inter-Agency guideline on MHPSS in humanitarian settings).

  • Full adherence to World Vision Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.

  • Work experience with humanitarian agencies.

  • Management experience (especially managing the diverse team of staff/ volunteers).

  • 60-80% travel required
