Engineer Assistant (Pending Donor Approval)

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Assistant to engineer will work closely with the volunteers where he will be responsible for providing a technical training for the volunteer as well as supervising them within the implementation of the project by providing technical guidance & the proper implementation techniques. Assistant to engineer will directly supervise & manage the refugees and Jordanians volunteers to achieve the goals of the project under the supervision & guidance of the infrastructure engineer

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collects field data for the construction requirements using by using the proper devices, equipment’s & techniques.

  • Inspect and monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to standards, building codes, and specifications.

  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures and fixtures

  • Monitor the implementation of the dam protection techniques and appliances.

  • Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs and marking the layout drawings.

  • Supervise the workers during the implementation of the protection techniques step by step.

  • Making sure that all of the workers are following the safety procedures

  • Prepare daily report for the site activities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Diploma degree with a major in civil engineering or civil engineering technology.

  • Knowledge of child protection / child rights

  • Good written & oral command

  • Computer literate mainly with MSOffice software package

  • Good communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships

  • Ability to foster a good team spirit

  • support the projects by adapting and applying engineering techniques, conducting tests and inspections, preparing reports and calculations

  • five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in civil engineering work in such areas as construction, riprap, gabions wall, ditches, transportation, hydraulics, highway, soils and materials

  • Two years’ experience supervising gabions wall, check dams, drop structure construction, soil erosion & any protection technique that were subject to dam protection permit requirements.

  • Ability to use civil engineering software’s such as AutoCAD.
