Job Title: Project Coordinator –Youth Empowerment Project

Reporting to: Project Manager

Work Location: Kisumu

Purpose of the position:

To provide technical support in the planning, implementation and reporting of all the Lake Region DDP Youth Empowerment Project activities initiatives by World Vision Kenya and Standards; and to provide support to the project sub-grantees and beneficiaries as guided by project work plan, targets and needs that may emerge from time to time.

Major Responsibilities

Project Implementation and Technical support, 60%

  • Contribute to the development and roll out the Project’s detailed implementation plan and ensure project effectiveness and efficiency

  • Ensure timely and effective partner mobilization for meaningful involvement in the implementation of project activities

  • Provide technical support to partners in undertaking reviews of relevant public policies and legislative frameworks at the National level and for the targeted counties

  • Provide technical support to partners in engagement in the annual government’s budget process. This includes conducting annual relevant budget analysis and utilizing the findings and recommendations to inform decision making on public resource allocation and management

  • Provide technical support to partners in undertaking context based Social Accountability initiatives

  • Provide technical assistance to County level relevant Sector Working groups and technical working groups; and relevant County Assembly Committees as may be appropriate from time to time

  • Establish and maintain a database of Governance actors (e.g. community groups, Civil Society Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, the Private Sector, Government Departments, Agencies and Institutions)

Monitoring, Documentation and Knowledge Management, 35%

  • Provide technical contribution in developing and reviewing of project monitoring plans or data collection plans

  • Conduct routine monitoring of indicator progress, as guided by the project M&E plan. This includes ensuring that data collection is conducted in accordance with the monitoring plan and standards in line with the Project M&E plan, and helping to compile/validate that data

  • Contribute to the process of cleaning, organising and archiving relevant project data and evidence according to the monitoring system guidelines; and store data in a safe, secure and accessible location

  • Develop quality technical reports such as weekly briefs, monthly reports, in-line with WV and donor reporting guidelines

  • Facilitate regular learning and reflections session and help implement improvements as may be appropriate

  • Document best practices, human interest stories and refine case studies for publication

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in either Development Studies, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Economics, or other related field

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in working with youth and partners in Social, Economic and political related affairs

  • Minimum of 2 years of engagement in public decision making processes, such as policy and law making, budget process and social accountability initiatives

  • Minimum of 2 years of working with consortia and engaging with youth led organizations

  • Experience in Advocacy, External engagements, influencing and Lobbying

  • Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation

  • Excellent Communication skills (both oral and written).

  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.

  • Must be willing to perform other duties as required
