Purposeoftheposition:

The Market Systems Advisor will be responsible for ensuring successful implementation of IMARA Program through providing technical and strategic leadership of the market systems development functions. He/She willlead,adviceand contribute to theresearch, design, development,implantation,monitoringandevaluation of MarketSystems and Financial InclusionInitiatives within IMARAProgramandprovidetechnical supporttothe Livelihood& ResilienceTechnical Program in the use of natural resources more sustainably and promote resilience in four counties of Samburu, Laikipia, Isiolo and Marsabit.

A key function of this role will be to lead the technical expertise of NRM related value chains and market development across the consortium agencies

The position Holder must be able to communicate World Vision's Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others

Technical leadership and program supportforValue Chains, Market Systems and Economic Development, 40%

  • Provide technical leadershiptomarkets systemsdevelopment

initiatives withinIMARA program,withaparticular focus

onsustainablenatural resources-basedvalue chains(VCs), collectivemarketing/aggregation,marketcontractingand warehouse receipting,andfinancial inclusionincludingaccess to credit,andrisktransfer approaches (e.g.Index-basedLivestock Insuranceor simplyIBLI),andinput /output marketsinall the four ProgramCounties;

  • Establish dialogue and partnerships among local business services providers, lead firms, and trade associations and other relevant market actors to facilitate access to support services and to

  • strengthen market linkages among them

·Identify anddevelopresources requiredbyiMARAConsortium

Partners tosuccessfully design, implement,monitor andevaluate sustainablenatural resources-basedVCs,marketsystems

development, financial inclusionandother outcomes relatedto

rural commercializationwithin theProgram;

·Provide technical input,training, mentoring andsupportto IMARA Program staffworking insustainablenatural

resources-basedVCs,marketsystemsdevelopment and Financial Inclusion thoughbothSavings forTransformationand other savings andloans approaches;

·Advisein theprogramming ofnewmarket-focusedapproaches suitable forsustainable naturalresources-basedVCsand

markets developmentwithintheIMARA Programcontext

·Identify viableandsustainable nichemarkets fornatural;

resources-basedvalue chainsincluding non-traditionalwood products such as gums andraisins andlinkthemtoproducers groups inrespectivecounties;

  • Work with target actors to provide opportunities to participate in entrepreneurial/ innovations/ capacity building or training, as well as other market-based opportunities by building linkages

·Ensurepartnerships insustainable natural resources-basedVCs, MarketSystems,andFinancial Inclusionareappropriately documented,andorganizationally embedded,withclear objectives definedfor bothWV, NRT, SEIandtherespective CountyGovernments and;

·Contribute learning centers forcontinuedquality Programming withinWVK.

·Provide technical support todevelopingmarketsystems programmingwithinWVK.

Engagement, Networking and Advocacy, 25%
