Senior Internal Auditor

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Lead the quality appraisal of operational and financial transactions to ensure compliance to WV policies and audit industry procedures and standards and to recommend internal controls in order to minimize operational and financial risk to organization.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Audit Engagement

  • Plan, implement and monitor risk-based audit engagements for WV Lao according to WV Global Internal Audit (GIA) Policy and General Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).

  • Review office financial systems and report on compliance. Carry out special audits and investigations at the request of management. Review audit reports with the appropriate management team.

  • Validate implementation of audit recommendations by management on quarterly basis.

B. Risk Advisory

  • Provide risk consultation service to WV Lao management.

  • Advice management on the formulation of risk management strategies and policies to all operational areas of the organization with a view of ensuring all policies adequately mitigate the risks identified.

  • On a regular basis, provide summaries of audit results and trends to management.

  • Track audit recommendations and ensure that management is implementing such recommendations.

C. Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP)

  • Develop and maintain a quality assurance and improvement program that cover all the aspects of the internal audit activity.

  • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal audit activity and identify opportunities for improvement.

D. Internal and External Coordination and Liaison

  • Manage internal and external relations that will enhance audit engagement of WV Lao.

  • Ensure effective coordination of audit team with all other internal teams in WV Lao.

E. Knowledge Management and Capacity Building

  • Ensure continuous learning on appropriate Audit standards, procedures and tools appropriate to the context of WV Lao.

  • Share best practices and contribute to the community of practice and centers of excellence. Conduct orientation to managers on minimum standards in audit, protocols, policies and procedures.
