Child Protection Officer

Job Description


This position will follow up on the quality of the activities implemented on the field at AP level. He/she will do the appropriate follow up, coaching of the relevant staff, training them and the partners on the CP standards, CSO requirements and other CP tools and approaches as well as liaising with field local stakeholders.

Referral and Case Management

- Ensure all Protection and CP cases of are properly referred and documented.- Ensure all incident reports are finalized on time and shared with the National Level Technical Program Coordinator


Project Implementation

- Conduct regular spot checks to all projects in the field to ensure CP standards are in place.-Provide oversight and supervision for purchasing appropriate technical material.

-Ensure CP standards are included in all DIPs.

-Ensure the TP log frame activities are done in a timely manner

-Provide and oversee the implementation of Child Protection Standards and Child Safe Organization


Capacity Building

-Requirements on a field level (staff regular CP policy orientation and mainstreaming of CP in departments)-Plan and provide for Capacity Building for staff to implement the CP project models in all ADPs-Provide training for all staff on CP policy, behavioral protocols and Safe Identification and Referrals



- Ensure regular coordination with the Project Coordinator & the Technical Program Coordinator

- Ensure regular presence in the CP sector meetings or all related meetings


  • Technical diploma or university degree preferably in social work or community development fields

  • Requires an understanding & experience and willing to take initiatives in the following areas:-Humanitarian Protection Principles, Minimum Standards and Guidelines-Child Protection, System Approach – an overview and in depth knowledge of psychosocial, child abuse and neglect issues-Advocacy on the Rights of the Child including the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child (both in national and community level-Child Development-Adult Education Skills-Community based psychosocial program-Children in Crisis

  • Creative and able to come up, embrace and coordinate innovative thinking, partnership building and problem solving skills;

  • Good analytical and writing skills;

  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity, abilities to work as a team

  • Effective in written and oral communication; in English

  • Able to work multifunctional tasks in the pressure of time and the of the changing organisation procedures

  • Computer literacy; Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • One to three years of technical coordination experience

  • 2 years’ experience in Child Protection or any other related field.

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or any other related area

  • Experience in capacity building processes, tools and methodologies

  • Experience participating in program assessment, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes

  • Experience with faith, community based and child focused empowerment programs

  • 80% field work and 20% office based
