Project Officer - Child Protection

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Working under the supervision of the Child Protection Project Manager, the Child Protection Officer is responsible for monitoring the psychosocial support programs implemented by local partners in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. He/she provides direct support, guidance and coaching to partner staff to ensure the quality and timeliness of implementation and project alignment with Child Protection standards and donor requirements. The project officer is also responsible of field level coordination with partners in addition to the administrative and program reporting components of the project.

Project implementation

  • Monitors the implementation of Structured and Focused Psycho Social Support Programs carried out by partners in accordance with the plan of action.

  • Provides regular guidance, coaching and support to partner staff on technical and programmatic elements of the project.

  • Ensures effective and supportive relations with partners are strengthened and maintained at all times.

  • Prepares detailed Monthly Reports on the implementation of structured and focused PSS.

  • Supports partner staff in identifying and referring vulnerable children to the appropriate Child Protection service as per a predefined criterion.

  • Ensures the minimum standards of child friendly spaces are present and applied in CFS centers.

  • Identifies and reports key protection threats affecting the safe implementation of PSS programs in child friendly spaces.

  • Coordinates with relevant stakeholders including WVL technical and support departments.

  • Assists the Project Manager in preparing timely and accurate project progress reports in accordance with internal, sectoral and donor requirements.

  • Participates in periodic evaluations of the impact of the project on the Beneficiaries with support from the DME unit.

Project Administration

  • Prepares and collects invoices from partners entailing costs associated with project implementation.

  • Supports the Project Manager in preparing Procurement Plan and follow up on procurement requests, delivery to partners and documentation.

  • Responsible of preparing and Processing payment orders to partners and suppliers.

  • Keep and file records and correspondences related to the project.

  • Ensures project, donor and partner visibility is present in CFS centers and project activities.

  • Assist in preparing and organizing community events for sensitization objective.

Safety and Security responsibilities

  • Carry out public relations activities, which include accompanying foreign visitors and donors to the project (once needed, on occasional basis)

  • Represent World Vision in meetings and trainings when requested and is necessary.

  • Attend and participate in local and international capacity building events as needed.

  • Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture

  • Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • University degree in a field related to community development work such as psychology, sociology, education etc. (social workers are highly encouraged to apply)

  • Minimum of 2 year experience in community development and/or relief work.

  • University Degree in a field related to community development or social work, a degree in psychology.

  • Solid Knowledge and skills in Child Protection and Psychological Support programing.

  • Fist hand knowledge in project design, project management, and project implementation.

  • Solid communication, interpersonal, negotiation and relationship management skills and experience.

  • Proven ability to work effectively and sensibly in cross-cultural settings and complex environments.

  • Basic knowledge of accounting and finance principles.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic.

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office package.
