PURPOSE OF POSITION
To design, implement, monitor and coordinate WASH infrastructure and response interventions within World Vision’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program in the Bekaa, with the goal to improve the public health of the target population.
The WASH Engineer is fully accountable for proper execution and monitoring of works as per applicable specifications and standards.
End Results Expected
All WASH Infrastructure is designed in line with international and local best practices
Complete technical project documentation including calculations, BOQ’s, specifications and drawings
Sound proposal solutions responding to needs as assessed
Quality WASH Infrastructure is implemented within the planned project timeframe and budget.
Correct payment orders
WV WASH staff and ‘Community WASH Focal Points’ are empowered to ensure proper installation, operations, and maintenance of WASH infrastructure
Well-managed and clear databases are being used to plan, monitor, and modify the WASH interventions.
Responsible for day to day security management
Abide by the security procedures and policies and report any breaches
Participate in personal safety training as required
Be aware of emergency procedures in a response
Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally, if any
Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture events and
Perform other relevant tasks as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor Degree in Civil, Industrial, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
2-4 Years of experience in a similar supervisory and design position
Independent, Self-Starter and creative and able to work without supervision
Strong English and Arabic communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to travel across the country regularly for training, assessment, regular monitoring and evaluation
A high level of diplomacy and networking skills is required
Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina
Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment
Ability to maintain performance expectations in psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
Ability to use a computer, with word-processing and spreadsheets, (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Ability to use AutoCad and preferably ArcGIS
Experience working collaboratively in a team
Experience in infrastructure works, and in coordinating activities with partners and facilitating capacity building
Experience in NGOs, preferably in implementing programs in any field related to water or sanitation: involving assessments, design, planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation and monitoring

Knowledge of wastewater treatment and water treatment simulation / modeling software and solutions
Knowledge of water and waste water networks modelling software (like WaterCAD, SewerCAD, Epanet.…)
Experience in testing treatment facilities
Experience in reviewing and preparing O&M manuals
50% field work, 50% office based
Be prepared to travel to implementation sites and regional, global meetings as required.
