WASH Engineering Unit Manager
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to manage, coach and direct the engineering components under the WASH portfolio and the daily work of the engineering unit activities. The incumbent will be accountable for quality of construction projects and the engineering unit deliverables. He / She will oversee all engineering activities related to proposals, construction works and monitoring stages of projects within available capabilities and resources.

Manage Engineering activities
Plans are in place and updated regularly to ensure projects’ construction activities are completed on time and within budget.
Participate at the coordination meeting on monthly basis
Oversee and Manage engineering unit
Efficient and Effective Unit
Standard operating procedures and forms
Resources allocation chart
Perform other duties as required
Ensure personal safety and the safety of the field WASH team.
Be an active member of World Vision staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor Degree or Post-graduate Diploma in the following: Civil, Mechanical, preferable specialized in water, sanitation and environment.
4 to 6 years of experience in an infrastructure project (design, planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation and monitoring)
2 years’ experience in NGOs in the work of implementing or managing programs in any field related to water, sanitation, health, waste management or shelter: involving assessments, design, planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation and monitoring.
A high level of diplomacy and networking skills is required.
Strong capacity building and facilitation skills
Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment
Ability to maintain performance expectations in psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
Able to use a computer, with word-processing and spreadsheets, (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Understanding of internet and email
Experience in managing staff, partners and facilitating capacity building
Strong English and Arabic communication skills (oral and written)
Member of the Order of Engineers and Architects
Knowledge of water and waste water networks modelling software (like WaterCAD, SewerCAD)
Working Knowledge of wastewater treatment and water treatment simulation / modeling software
Working knowledge in AutoCAD
Knowledge in waste separation and treatment solutions
Familiarity with QA/QC procedures
Experience in design and implementation of water and waste water treatment plants
Experience in reviewing and preparing O&M manuals and other project documents
Complete Travel and/or Work Environment statements if applicable.
50% field work, 50% office based
