Position: Associate Director-Communications, Advocacy and Justice for Children
Purpose of Position
To provide overall leadership to the Advocacy, Communications, Gender and Justice for Children in support of WV Malawi National Office strategy. The role will strongly position WV Malawi’s “voice”, policy positions and influence to internal and external stakeholders.
Strategic planning and implementation
Lead in the development and implementation of communications, advocacy and justice for children strategy.
Foster Advocacy integration within and across sectors.
Lead in the development and implementation of marketing initiatives designed to increase the organization’s capacities to engage corporate donors and generate resources for its ministry priorities
Lead in the development of communications, advocacy and justice for children budget.
Provide oversight of advocacy programming so that the budgets are managed in accordance with LEAP standards.
Monitoring and reporting
Monitor and provide guidance to the evaluation ofAdvocacy and Communicationsinitiatives that are aligned with the regional themes so that the initiatives designed and implemented promote best practice learning and offer impact-oriented success.
Prepare and submit reports timely
Lead in the analysis, monitoring, and reporting on the implementation of government policies for advocacy
Networking and collaboration
Support the National Director to serve as a key person to externally promote justice for children on WV’s key priority issues.
Facilitate strategic linkages between WV and like - minded organizations and others to enlist wider support of World Vision’s campaign and advocacy priority issues.
Engage media to increase WV brand, awareness and “voice” on key issues and events; promote and protect WV Malawi’s public image and brand
Build NO capacity to implement Communications, Advocacy and justice for children strategy and initiatives.
Provide guidance to National Office on Child protection standards and reporting protocols
Lead, manage, & mentor staff in the Communications, Advocacy and Justice for children team.
Ensure that competent staff are hired, motivated , retained and are able to effectively perform their roles and duties
Learning and innovation
Manage the production and provision of high quality information resources and materials for donor and public engagement.
Be the link for internal communication on advocacy issues, trends, emerging best practices and other initiatives within the organization.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Degree in Law, Communications or International Relations
Masters Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Politics, Communications, Economics or its equivalent.
7 years of experience in international development in leadership role; preferably hand’s on advocacy and advocate at the regional, national, and local level of a developing country.
Strong analytical, persuasive and influencing skills.
Proven experience as a team player
Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
Postgraduate training in administration, management and accounts will be added advantage.
Ability to use personal computers especially Microsoft Office
