Zonal Church Engagements and Christian Commitment Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Zonal Church Engagement and Christian Commitment Coordinator

Purpose of position

To provide technical leadership in the implementation of WVM Christian Commitments portfolio. The incumbent shall represent WVM at relevant faith forums and networking platforms at the Zonal level. The position shall further be responsible for communication World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

Major responsibilities

Planning

  • Support to develop NO CE and CC strategy.

  • Provide support to the development a Zonal Advocacy, CE and CC, Communications and Child protection annual Business plan

  • Implementation of CE and CC business plan

  • Ensure that CC models are being integrated and implemented in TP

  • Support Programme Managers in mobilization of resources for CE and CC engagements

Partnership with Churches and other Faith Organizations.

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with the church and faith organizations

Spiritual Formation

  • Facilitate staff Psycho Social Support

  • Facilitate the establishment of CC committees at Zonal and District levels

Capacity Building

  • Strengthen the capacity of churches, faith organizations and other partners in spiritual nurture for children.

  • Build staff capacity in implementation of CC Models

Monitoring and reporting

  • Monitor and report on CC and CE interventions in the Zone.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • At least first Degree in Social sciences, Theology, Christian Education or any other equivalent qualification

  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience in a similar position.

  • Must have the ability to implement programmes that build staff spiritual formation and Christian Commitment capabilities

  • Must demonstrate exemplary Christian character.

  • Good understanding of and respect for Christian diversity in the country

  • Ability to effectively work with different denominations and people of other faiths

  • Must have commitment to World Vision objectives, ministries and systems, its ethos, philosophy of work

  • Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate and plan as well as transfer knowledge and skills

  • Must be able to represent World Vision in Zonal and district forums

  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills both orally and in writing

  • Must have proven analytical, problem solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision

  • At least three years’ experience working with the faith community.

  • Knowledge and experience in mobilizing different faith communities.

  • Experience in programme development and fundraising

  • Mature and ability to maintain high level of confidentiality

  • Ability to provide leadership and take responsibility for the Christian Commitment and Church Engagement portfolio

  • Excellent mobilization and facilitation skills

  • Experience in developing and adapting training modules.

  • Experience in using community based approaches.

  • Excellent communication and team-working skills, with the ability to build good relations, both within WV and externally.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and good computer skills.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with respect for diversity.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
