Position: Development Facilitator Sponsorship (combining APs) Area Program Team Leader

Purpose of the Position

To be responsible for implementation of sponsorship activities, community level coordination and fostering partnerships within sponsorship in the Area Programme. This position shall also provide administrative leadership, Coordinate Risk Management and stakeholder engagement at Area programme level

Major Responsibilities

Project planning and Implementation

  • Facilitate community engagement in planning and developing detailed annual implementation plans for the sponsorship aligned to the CESP

  • Facilitate efficient and timely implementation of planned activities within time, scope and budget.

  • Facilitate the development of child community selection criteria into sponsorship programme

Project monitoring and reporting

  • Regular data collection under sponsorship for reporting and evaluation.

  • Developing and submitting reports as required

  • Conduct community monitoring visits and review meetings

  • Documenting lessons learnt, promising practices and change stories

  • Report RC participation in sector related activities

  • Produce and share evidence of project impact on children including RC

  • Conduct home visits for RC households

  • Support reporting at AP level i.e. MMR, Semiannual and annual reports

Community engagement and capacity building

  • Conduct annual reflection and assessments on community sponsorship understanding, child participation and voice and community led child protection

  • Organize and implement sponsorship and child protection capacity building initiatives at community level

  • Provide mentorship and coaching of trained groups (volunteers, committees and stakeholders)

  • Mobilize and engage communities in sponsorship and community led child protection using participatory methodologies (e.g. campaigns)

  • Conduct sponsorship awareness meetings

  • Build the capacity of community groups in child monitoring and reporting.

  • Work with children’s groups in community or school activities that will strength children’s skills and sharing voice in programme interventions and sponsorship communication

Networking & Advocacy

  • Facilitate linkages between community groups and relevant child wellbeing platforms

  • Identify sponsorship related issues for advocacy and messaging

  • Build the capacity of community groups in advocacy using Citizen Voice and Action (CVA), Child Protection and Advocacy (CPA)

  • Represent the program in relevant forums at local level

  • Facilitate interface meetings between service providers and community groups

  • Build partnerships with the church and FBOs within sponsorship related activities

  • Provide leadership in stakeholder engagement at AP Level (ADCs, VDCs, faith community)

Sponsorship Business Processes

  • Facilitate the recruitment of children into sponsorship programme using community developed child selection criteria

  • Facilitate timely processing of sponsor mails

  • Facilitate processing of child and community Gift Notification (GN) ensuring that GNs address the felt needs of children and communities

  • Facilitate timely processing of sponsor queries

  • Facilitate timely processing of child developed Annual Progress Reports and Christmas Cards

  • Facilitate reporting of child deaths

Asset and Risk Management

  • Facilitate filing and safe keeping of all sponsorship documentation

  • Conduct quarterly sponsorship document reviews and ensure missing documents are in place

  • Facilitate reporting of child abuse incident

  • Support in identification and mitigation of all risk exposures at AP level.

  • Assist in the implementation of prior and current audit recommendations at AP level

  • Ensuring security of the office buildings and equipment by making sure that the minimum standard requirements are met

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in community development, social work, education, development studies and any other related qualification

  • Three years’ experience in project implementation working in the NGO sector

  • 3 years of development experience preferably development facilitation

  • Motor cycle rider with a valid and clean riding licence

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge about sector related approaches and policies

  • Working in a cross cultural environment strong skills in facilitation of development processes including organization, mobilization and influence of partners and networking among development partners.

  • Ability to communicate fluently in both oral and written English
