Intergrated Programs Director
Position: Integrated Programs Director (For World Vision Malawi Internal Applicants only)
Purpose of Position
To provide strategic direction and leadership in the execution of World Vision Strategy in Transformational Development, Humanitarian Emergency Affairs and advocacy for sustained well-being of children especially the most vulnerable within families and communities. The role is responsible in leading the overall management, implementation and growth of the integrated ministry of WVM on strategic, and operational management including public engagement, quality and impact of the ministry.
Leadership and Strategic Management
Provide strong and positive leadership in ensuring that programmes achieve Child Well-Being Outcomes in line with the organisation’s Ministry Framework and Development Approach, and NO’s strategic priorities and programme designs.
Ensure that programmes are managed and executed within time, scope and budgets to meet donor and community needs.
Provide leadership in program/project mapping and designing.
Contribute to the effective oversight of disaster management and HEA functions, based on Partnership protocols and standards, including the development and implementation of a National office disaster preparedness plan
Provide oversight to Sponsorship department and ensure that standards are adhered to.
Model Christ-centered servant leadership and support spiritual development of his/her team
Strategy Development and Planning
Lead in the development and review of NO strategy,
Ensure integration of Advocacy, HEA and all other cross cutting themes (e,g. child protection) in all technical programs across various funding types.
Lead in annual program/projects planning and budgeting in line WV”s financial guidelines.
Facilitate the Programme Capability Review and the implementation of the operational aspects of the Organizational Capacity Plan (OCP).
Resource Acquisition and Management
Provide leadership in funding negotiations with support offices and other donors in coordination with other NO Directors and in alignment with RWG decisions.
Ensure timely utilization and management of all acquired resources
Accountability and Quality Assurance
Ensure quality in programming and services in line partnership standards, policies and protocols
Provide oversight to operational risk management, including implementation and maintenance of core security requirements
Develop and implement strategies for intentional and mutual learning among operations staff between programs and between other regions (a wider geographical area).
Networking, representation and coordination
Maintain effective communications and pro-active relationships with Support Office partners, donors, and other stakeholders.
Ensure coordination and cross learning among work units within operations
Oversee the development and implementation of appropriate advocacy strategies to raise awareness of and advocate for change in- key issues within the specific context;
Strengthen awareness of World Vision’s program both within and outside of the WV Partnership;
Contribute to the operations talent management and processes supporting staff with identified potential to realize and achieve their full potential within the organization.
Coach and mentor directs reports
To maintain an evidence based culture which is personal centered and commands confidence of staff and promote multidisciplinary and cross-organizational working
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Master’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Strategic Management, Rural Development or a equivalent qualifications
Ability to engage at a strategic level with senior government, UN and INGO officials.
Ability to lead a multi-cultural team with an empowering and outcome oriented approach
Strong budgetary and financial management skills.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Good interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, challenging conditions.
Able to work on a cross-cultural environment with a multi-national staff.
Ability to solve complex problems and to exercise independent judgment.
Ability to travel within country, regional and internationally.
Minimum of 10 years managerial experience in Program Management with a thorough understanding of the project management cycles in a complex, international development organization.
Sound experience in leading a multi-million dollar and multi-national humanitarian organization
