Development Facilitator-Improved Forest Management

Purpose of the position:Lead in the facilitation of activities on the ground, including trainings, revitalizing / establishing forest governance structures, Forest Based Enterprises value chain operations, and regular coaching of the Local Forest Organizations involved in the project.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Lead in the implementation of the Project Activities; .

  2. Support the establishment and capacity building of project stakeholders (VNRMCs, Block Management Committees, Local Forestry Management Boards, Forest Based Enterprises,)

  3. Support the identification of value chains and linkages of FBEs with MFI and Markets

  4. Participate in implementation and review of NRM, and FBE initiatives and innovations.

  5. Support value chain harvesters in processing; development of product grades and standards.

  6. Support in designing, re-designing and development of project implementation strategy and plans.

  7. Compile and submit regular reports in compliance with project reporting requirements; monitor quarterly activities and expenditures against work plan; monitor and report progress against project indicators.

  8. Any other related duties as designated by supervisor

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required:

    • BSc in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Community Development, Forestry or any relevant comparable field.

  • Experience:

    • At least 2 years experience in leading activity implementation and/or coordination; familiar with INGO systems.

    • Have practical experience in relevant technical fields (NRM, Forest Management, Value Chain development etc)

    • Developed facilitation skills, including ability to organize and facilitate community trainings; ability to deliver compelling presentations for adult learning

    • Proven ability to build effective networks and coordination with field partners from multiple technical sectors

    • Experience in working with government extension workers and VDCs, and ADCs

    • Ability to identify and compile appropriate resources and ‘tools’ for use by implementation teams

    • Excellent command of written English with experience in donor reporting

Proven ability to write authoritative reports for publication and discussion
