District Sponsorhip Coordinator

Job Description


Position: Sponsorship Coordinator

Purpose of the Position

To provide leadership in effective management of sponsorship within a district as an asset for development through community led child monitoring and protection while ensuring adherence to sponsorship standards, procedures and policies thereby meeting sponsor transformation.

Major Responsibilities

Planning and implementation

  • Ensure that community-led sponsorship activities within a district are integrated in programme interventions

  • Lead in conducting meetings among programme staff and other TP coordinators to ensure RCs benefit from programme interventions communication

  • Conduct periodic assessments to determine programme interventions are done in areas where children including registered children are.

Sponsorship Capacity Building

  • Orient staff on sponsorship messaging, integrated with broader community engagement process

  • Conduct ongoing sponsorship feasibility in APs within a district

  • Manage ongoing capacity building of partners and community groups as part of integrated capacity building on CWB

Sponsorship Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Support the establishment of community child monitoring mechanisms

  • Coordinate ongoing child monitoring through community groups or volunteers

  • Lead in analysis, reporting and sharing of child monitoring information at district level for appropriate action and referral.

  • Monitor communications to sponsors to ensure that all communication is complete, accurate and timely.

  • Lead in conducting sponsorship reviews within a district ensuring that all sponsorship

Child Protection

  • Provide guidance to AP team on revised child protection standards and reporting protocols.

  • Review child photos and videos so that they reflect child integrity

  • Monitor reporting of child abuse cases ensuring that child abuse cases are reported to relevant authorities within 24 hours

Supporter Engagement

  • Identify mechanisms for equipping children to express themselves, lift their voices and become story tellers and change agents

  • Share with Support Offices more authentic proof of change to supporters

  • Build the capacity of Development Facilitators in appropriate community- voiced digital contents.

  • Respond to all sponsor originated queries with speed and accuracy

Sponsorship Risk management

  • Develop mechanisms in collaboration with the team leader to ensure that all child files and sponsorship documentation are updated

  • Monitor APs to ensure that information in child files are securely maintained

  • Facilitate urgent responses to SOs within appropriate period

People Management

  • Provide leadership to sponsorship DFs within a district ensuring that all have annual performance agreements and reviews

  • Conduct ongoing coaching and mentoring to all sponsorship staff within a district

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Journalism, Development Studies and any other relevant field

  • At least 5 years of broad and deep experience in managing child sponsorship

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Previous experience in working with children

  • Previous experience in sponsorship management

  • Good understanding of sponsorship business processes

  • Good understanding Development philosophy/approaches

  • Basic understanding of information management

  • Basic understanding of transformational development

  • Excellent written and presentation skills in English and any one local languages in Malawi

  • At least 5 years of broad and deep experience in managing child sponsorship

  • Ability to use web based databases

  • Previous experience in the use of Excel

  • Basic photography and videography skills
