TITLE:WASH Advisor

Contract type: Local

Reports to:Operation Manager and technically to Senior WASH Manager

Purpose of the position:

Working closely with Nutrition Programme Manager and the WASH manager and in collaboration with the WASH specialists, the WASH Advisor will ensure the strategic and successful implementation of WV Mali WASH software interventions including Combined sanitation approaches: PHAST, CLTS, Sanitation marketing, microfinance in sanitation approaches, WASH UP!, Design For behavior Change and community capacity building for sustainability, replication and software planning leadership in all World Vision ADPs located in his assigned zone.

The WASH Advisor is fully responsible for the WASH interventions data collection and entry in the GIS/Horizon system as well as the reporting of WASH activities and impact.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the work of the field WASH specialists to achieve the project objectives in their respective areas of responsibility.

  2. Work closely with the cluster program Managers and WASH specialists to ensure that WASH objectives and targets are well set-up, planned and implemented according to programs planning docs, standards, policies and standards.

  3. Ensure strategic and successful implementation of the WASH plans in communities, schools and health centers or any designated location by the office.

  4. Ensure qualitative data collection and entry to Horizon GIS system

  5. Ensure strategic implementation of the CLTS and its related combines approaches (PHAST, Sanitation marketing), DBC in all the communities located in WV ADPs

  6. Ensure that implementation of the software activities is in line with the hardware activities.

  7. Participate in the development of proposals, budgets, action plan, and conduct need assessment where necessary.

  8. Ensure that good, respectful and fruitful relationship is developed and maintained with all project stakeholders including communities, government NGOs or associations at regional level.

  9. Ensure monitoring tools are available for field WASH specialist and used for project monitoring/evaluation, data collection and updates in and from the field.

  10. Ensure continuous capacity building and coaching or WASH field staff for better performance

  11. Represent Managers on their request to meetings and other events related to WASH at regional and district levels.

  12. Submit monthly and quarterly report and update to the with copy to WASH Manager.

  13. Fulfil any other task in line with the mission and vision of WV upon request from managers or Operations Director.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required BAC + 4 years in any WASH related field, Health, Community development, project management, social science. Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years’ experience in the field WASH project implementation

  • Experience in some WASH approaches including CLTS, sanitation marketing, DBC

  • Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Good computer knowledge and practices

  • Knowledge in Data processing

  • Good planning and organizational skill

  • Capacity of reflection and fast comprehension

  • Working knowledge in proposal writing, concept paper, need assessment and monitoring and evaluation.

  • Innovation skills

  • Communication skills

  • Knowledge of animation techniques

  • Opening of idea

  • Ability to integrate the communities

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Travel: 25 %

  • On call: 5%
