Senior Manager, WASH - WV Mauritania



Provide overall leadership, management and coordination of the entire operations (design, implementation, monitoring and reporting) of the WV Mauritania WASH interventions in a holistic and sustainable manner.


  • Develop strategies and technical approaches for WASH project models and ensure their implementation.

  • In collaboration with all stakeholders, develop, monitor and implement the WV Mauritania WASH Business plan.

  • Coordinate WASH activities planning, organize and monitor field teams to reach the objectives, outcomes and outputs.

  • Provide field supervision and monitoring to ensure that WASH interventions are completed in compliance with national and international standards and policies.

  • Ensure coaching and training of the staff of the Program to achieve the project objectives and outcomes in their respective areas of responsibility.

  • Lead in the development of WASH projects in Mauritania, mapping of resource needs and lead WASH fundraising initiatives.

  • Communicate and report activities’ progress to NO, WASH Regional Office and WVUS.

  • Develop and manage partnership in WASH sector including Government partners, WASH sector partners, local authorities and potential and current donors.

  • Fulfil any other task in line with the mission and vision of WV upon request from the RAM Director or designate or National Director.


  • Design engineering degree in civil engineering and hydraulic infrastructures and systems.

  • At least five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector throughout private, Development & Humanitarian organizations.

  • Five (5) years professional experience in international development and managing water supply systems and Hygiene & sanitation programs.

  • Good knowledge and skills in management and leadership.

  • Familiar with the global trends in water, sanitation and hygiene sector, as well as WHO and industry standards.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Good computer and Internet skills.

  • French and English proficiency.

Working Environment/Travel:

  • Work environment: Travelling and working in rural areas sometimes without potable water and poor hygiene conditions.

  • Travel: travelling thousands of kilometers sometimes no roads or tertiary roads.
