PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Risk and Compliance Manager as a member of the Senior Management Team in Monte Credit doo Podgorica contributing to the organization’s strategy and business plan, with a particular focus on achieving our social and financial goals within its Risk Appetite while at all times remaining compliant with VFI policies and external regulations so as to protect the reputation and financial sustainability of the organization.
Contributes to running the business by advising, challenging and suggesting solutions to align to the strategic business plan while advising management team of the institution on significant risk and compliance issues, maintaining a perspective that is both independent and sensitive to the commercial objectives of the institution.
Manages credit risk, through effective application of the credit manual and procedures.
Analyzes and interprets the reports from accounting, loan tracking and other management information systems, in order to track possible credit risks and financial risks.
Builds capability in risk management in all departments through publishing procedures and training and coaching staff (for credit risk, market risk, operational risks and financial risks).
Effectively communicates and implements the Risk Management Framework within the institution, ensuring all staff are risk aware.
Actively participates in any Regional/Global Risk and Compliance groups set up by VFI, to facilitate the sharing of best practice across VFI’s network of MFIs.
Identifies and assesses the compliance risk associated with the institution’s current and proposed future business activities including new products, systems, business relationships and any extension of operations network.
Conducts or oversees periodic internal reviews to ensure that compliance procedures are followed across the whole company, reporting the results on a regular basis.
Assesses the appropriateness of internal policies and procedures, ensures there is follow-up of any identified deficiencies, makes recommendations for amendments, where necessary, and supervises the implementation of corrective measures to mitigate the identified deficiencies.
Developing, managing and evaluating the performance of staff in the Risk and Compliance area, in line with P&C policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Level VII University degree in a relevant subject (e.g. economics, business).
Strong accounting/finance education and knowledge of loan and capital markets products.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and Montenegrin.
Quantitative orientation and a good eye for detail.
Ability to manage dynamic priorities and work well under pressure.
Ability to write, present and train others on risk related materials.
A team player with ability to build relationships across different departments and branches, and to influence positive change in working practices.
Proactive, goal-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

B Driving license is required.
Ability to learn how to use new systems.
Ability to inspire and empower employees to use new systems and propose process improvements.
Strong working knowledge in MS Office and Loan Tracking Systems.
At least 5 years of experience in credit risk in a bank or microfinance institution.
At least 5 years of experience in risk analysis or compliance or internal audit.
Work experience of at least 2 years in management positions including managing a team.
Strong experience of credit analysis, credit collateral and the approval of loans.
Proven ability to assess, monitor, report and address risks.
Work experience in a multinational company.
Experience of presenting reports to a board of directors.
Experience in a strategic leadership role.
Office based in Podgorica. There is a requirement to travel around the country up to 20% of the time.
