LACRO Regional Advocacy Director
*Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate within the Latin America & Caribbean Region where WVI is registered to operate.
LACRO REGIONAL ADVOCACY DIRECTOR
The position leads World Vision’s advocacy and external engagement, successfully implementing the partnership-wide campaign and the regional public engagement strategy. Advocacy Director is responsible for positioning child protection and participation as prominent policy priorities within regional and national development and humanitarian agendas, advocating for policy changes at multiple levels, developing policy briefs, preparing leadership as leading advocates, and collaborating with internal & external stakeholders to support change at the global, regional, national, and local levels. The role will contribute to World Vision's programming and mobilization efforts, as well as to provide evidence to position the organization and influence external policy and funding outcomes.
Direct and implement World Vision’s Regional Advocacy Agenda as part of an overarching Public Engagement strategy, in partnership with National Offices, all ministry lines and functional areas, and Global Centre and Support Offices.
Develop in collaboration with key stakeholders World Vision’s public policy positions and support research projects in order to further Strategy.
Contribute to World Vision’s campaign and mobilizations of supporters with target audiences and publics.
Ensure World Vision can quickly and effectively speak into relevant advocacy spaces and processes in order to further the public engagement strategy and advance advocacy and public policy agenda.
Ensure continuous integration and sustainability of advocacy within World Vision’s ministry.
Be part of Public Engagement duties
A postgraduate degree or equivalent in Social Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, Public Policy, Policy or Law.
Specialized coursework in public policy, advocacy, campaigning, or communications.
Familiarity with international and regional Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) human rights systems, in-depth knowledge of Latin America and the Caribbean especially political environment, civil society movements, and other tendencies and key issues.
Fluency in English and Spanish- Portuguese and French are assets.
Ability to work in coalitions and function effectively in both Christian and secular settings; understanding of agencies, movements, organizations, and FBOs in the region.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
10 years of professional experience directly related to the position.
Experience in Advocacy and Communications work at national and international levels, including policy analysis, networking, lobbying, research, media and campaigning.
Management experience with senior technical experts; experience working and managing virtual teams.
Experience in engaging with and developing for corporations and private donors projects based on shared-value assessment and Social Responsibility and reporting under GRI guidelines-
Demonstrable experience in fund-raising from private and public sources; experience in budget management of projects over USD$250,000.
Experience working in collaborative and matrix structures (having two and even three reporting lines) with both direct as well as dotted-line supervision
Recent coursework in policy advocacy for INGOs and/or human rights law
