Financial Reporting Mgr - Business Analytics & Data Modeling

Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position is primarily responsible for building new and maintaining existing data models for financial and data analysis. The position will manage processes and people responsible for accurate data collection, processing, modeling and analysis. This position requires strong technical skills in Microsoft business analytics – particularly with DAX formula langue. This also requires a thorough understanding of World Vision’s finance data structures. Requires a mindset for converting specialized, complex and large financial data that will lead to high-quality, data-driven decisions.

By using advanced data modeling and analytical techniques, this position will relate, combine and interpret financial data to support business decisions. This requires strong communication and collaboration skills, financial analysis skills, and a deep understanding of partnership data sources and how they relate.

This position will be called upon to work with people outside Financial Reporting Service Centre (FRSC) to understand their reporting needs, and determine the appropriate data model needs. This requires the ability to listen and ask questions which lead to a full understanding of the reporting needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to determine reporting and data needs.

  • Evaluate the requirements and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders or consultants (as needed) to develop the appropriate data models that will be used for meeting reporting requirements.

  • Build, develop and maintain data models that will serve as a basis for FRSC, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Global Centre (GC) Finance and other financial reporting.

  • Work with stakeholder groups to ensure that data models are effectively used to meet GC Finance reporting and analysis needs.

  • Continuously learn, research and monitor advancements and best practices in business intelligence and data analytics, and communicate recommendations based on learnings.

  • Support efforts within and outside of finance to build data modeling and Power BI analytics capacity in WV.

  • Monitor, review and approve reports and analysis produced by his/her staff and team.

  • Manage and develop staff/s, projects or team/s assigned to this position.

  • Assist the line manager and the rest of the leadership team in various assignments, tasks and projects that support financial planning, reporting and analysis.

  • Carry out responsibilities and projects as assigned, including team, leadership and planning functions.

  • Attend and participate in meetings.

  • Attend and participate in chapel services, daily and group devotions.

  • Promote World Vision’s values through example and hold others accountable for the same across the team.

  • Other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience Finance, Accounting, Data Management or Statistics.

  • Highly knowledgeable and highly skilled in MS Excel.

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of NGO accounting and financial reporting environment including familiarity with government/multilateral grants.

  • Excellent skills in people management, time management, problem solving, interpersonal relations, decision-making, and oral and written communication.

  • At least 5 years of experience in preparing and analysing accounting and financial reports for internal and external clients.

  • At least 3 years of experience in data management applications used in data modeling and business intelligence including knowledge and background on SQL, PowerPivot, PowerBI, dashboards, and other business intelligence applications.

  • Must have experience leading a team or a project.

  • Must have experience working in a global organization (stakeholders in various time zones) and a multi-cultural environment.

  • Proven experience in effectively communicating with all levels in the organization (verbally and in writing).

  • Certified Public Accountant (preferred but not required).

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • This position requires strong technical skills in Microsoft business analytics – particularly with DAX formula language.

  • Experience training others is preferred.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time.
