General Ledger Assistant
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The General Ledger Assistant is responsible for supporting the financial accounting lead in the completion of the close, ensuring that the general ledger account balances and trial balances are accurate and reflect the proper amounts, and intercompany transactions and income transactions are correctly applied to the accounts in a timely manner on behalf of World Vision (WV) SSC in the South Asia Pacific Region.
Liaising with the accounts payable to ensure the accurate recording of soft commitments, accruals and prepayments.
Recording journal entries in GL, based on data supplied by each country on a daily basis, ensuring that no reconciliation differences / unapplied cash exists.
Assist in the month end, quarter end and the end year end close process.
Reviewing trial balance, reconcile / analyze assigned general ledger accounts and manage balancing activities.
Providing audit support when this is required.
Receiving and review supporting documentation from Global Centre, validate policies and procedures and recommend improvements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree with a major in finance, business or accounting.
At least 6 months work experience.
Good knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
A good knowledge of best practices within a project accounting environment and how to drive performance through better behaviors.
Experience in working in a financial shared services environment.
