PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position has 2 primary responsibilities. One is that of a database administrator and the other as a database developer.

As developer, this position will help identify and translate all business requirements and specifications pre-defined by the project lead into strategic technical solutions. This will require in-depth technical experience in but not limited to SQL (2008 R2, 2012) as back-end, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS Azure and other BI tools (Excel, PowerPivot, PowerBI, Tabular) as front-end medium of reporting and analysis.

As a database administrator,this position will be responsible for database maintenance, MDM, datawarehouse design, end-user database support, database continuous improvements, database upgrades, and streamlining the SQL administration processes in collaboration with appropriate database administrators in Global Centre.

To accomplish the main responsibilities, this position will partner with project leaders, analysts and other key stakeholders to understand key business processes, data sources, reporting needs, and delivery solution options.

This position will perform quality assurance on the work of the junior developers and/or admin associates within the team, and will serve as advisor/consultant to the stakeholder groups on SQL development related work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

45% (Developer):

Managing data from multiple sources in an efficient data warehouse architecture and develop enterprise-level solutions for very large multidimensional databases.

This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Designing and planning business intelligence (BI) solutions.

  • Debugging, monitoring and troubleshooting BI solutions.

  • Creating and deploying reports.

  • Writing relational and multidimensional database queries.

  • Move data in and out of database and perform some transformation of data as required.

  • Oversee work done by junior developers for quality checking and quality assurance.

  • Provide support to stakeholders for advanced SQL development requirements.

  • Documentation.

35% (DBA)

Defines and enforces procedures and standards that meet the required quality, security measures and server capacity to be observe by the developers and end-users during the work with the DBMS.

This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Figure out the best way to integrate applications within the organization. This may include creating custom applications, Transact-SQL scripts or SSIS packages.

  • Coordinate with WVI database administrators and participate in the implementation and testing during back-up and recovery process to ensure that data can be restored quickly.

  • Create database designs by performing needs/requirement analysis, creating a logical mode, and implement the physical mode.

  • Perform Impact analysis before changes are made, implement changes, test changes and document changes.

  • Manage Test Environments (Manila & KL Test servers).

  • Provide support to the work done by the Datawarehouse Admin Associate in daily checking and monitoring Server capacity and performance through capacity planning, archiving data as needed.

  • Develop and Implement sound database best practices to better organize and manage database operations.

  • Documentation.

15% Performs all sorts of testing, all the time.

This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Perform series of tests, queries to validate views/tables against sources.

  • End-to-end test of new applications.

  • Quality checking for the business rules applied to each cubes, tabular models and queries.

  • Do a series of testing on the data to see if it produces the right data anaysis/reports using different BI Toolds.

Technical support as requested by the Datawarehouse System lead.

This includes but not limited to the following:

  • Project involvement.

  • Adhoc training requests from other groups on SQL.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field preferred.

  • Advanced skills in database administration including database maintenance, upgrades and administration.

  • Advanced skills in database development.

  • At least 7 years solid experience using SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, Visual Studio 2012 or lower, BIDS, T-SQL Querying.

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Azure, MDX, DAX, Tabular, Power BI, and Excel BI Tools.

  • Strong background in systems development life-cycle.

  • With at least 6 years experience in Business Intelligence tools.

  • Strong database administration experience.

  • Has experience working in a multi-cultural and global working environment.

  • Has experience working with and collaborating with various levels and departments in the organization.

Preferred:

  • System Development Life Cycle.

  • Project management experience.

  • Data Analysis and data management experience.
