Advisor, Sponsorship Services Assurance

Job Description

*Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate within a jurisdiction (country or U.S. State) where WVI is registered to operate.


The Senior Advisor - Sponsorship Services Assurance is responsible to assure the effective and efficient delivery of field sponsorship services across all national offices in collaboration with regional offices. This position is responsible to ensure high quality of Sponsorship services, including supporter experience products and services and development and monitoring of performance accountability metrics, systems and processes. The position is responsible for child sponsorship metrics within GNOD reporting and coordinates on Sponsorship related issues within audit and risk management functions. This position coordinates with Regional QA/PE Directors, Regional Sponsorship Team Leaders and NO leaders to implement International Audit recommendations, and monitor and report preventive or corrective management action.

The Senior Advisor – Sponsorship Services Assurance will also lead the engagement with Regional and National leaders to enhance Sponsorships’ contribution to CWB by guiding informed decisions and recommending specific management action related to assuring child sponsorship essentials across development programming. The position is also responsible to facilitate and nurture sponsorship services business teams and networks with common priorities, commitments and action.


Strategy and Planning:

  • Provide the regional and national office leaders with the analysis of the extent of integration of sponsorship essentials within RO and NO strategies. Work with ROs to influence the strategy processes for alignment and drive follow-up to ensure informed action.

  • Develop and manage field related Sponsorship services annual business plan including deliverables, targets by entities providing a total view of the sponsorship services plans and progress

  • Manage shared plans and priorities with ROs and implementing partners. Negotiate and influence priorities, ensuring they are implemented as per agreements with mutual accountability.

  • Contribute to the Sponsorship change management plans including mainstreaming of Sponsorship in Programming, Transformed Field Environment (TFE) and other change processes ensuring that they NO adequately integrate sponsorship services considerations.

Quality Assurance and Risk Management:

  • Lead the development and manage ongoing updating of sponsorship service assurance framework including definitions and measurement and monitoring tools and processes.

  • Lead the regular review of performance trends using periodic reports including GNOD, SOI and monthly Exception Reports. Interpret implications and advise key areas for functional and line management action. Monitor and report on progress against corrective and management actions.

  • Provide guidance and support the regional and national sponsorship leaders on specific issues and addressing key performance gaps performance gaps.

  • Collaborate with Regional Sponsorship Team Leaders in monitoring and addressing of NO specific issues that impact multiple stakeholders and requiring global engagement. Drive follow-up ensuring timely and informed action.

  • Manage monitoring of NO International Audits including reports, management action plans and status updates working closely with regional offices. Provide executive reports on the status.

  • Lead an ongoing analysis of common areas of issues and gaps in Sponsorship services using different sources including GNOD, SOI, audits and report. Develop a shared action plan with ROs and GC functions ensuring that the common areas of issues and gaps are addressed.

  • Lead the Emergency Situation Reports review process and highlight major risks and support leadership action to manage negative impact on children, sponsorship field ministry and delivery of key priorities within standards. Drive follow-up action in close coordination with the regional offices. Engage HEA to ensure that sponsorship considerations in emergencies are prioritised appropriately.

Service Operations and Change Management:

  • Work closely with functions within Sponsorship field ministry and market facing ministry in setting sponsorship services deliverables, targets and plans including coordination with regions for their input.

  • Provide global coordination to the partnership RC portfolio management including data and photo supply. Manage escalation and exemption management working with relevant stakeholders.

  • Facilitate ideas and innovations in sponsorship services and converting them into proof of concepts and pilots working closely with Sponsorship policy and programming and market facing functions. Engage ROs and NOs for their buy-in for piloting and learning.

  • Support global implementation of supporter experience products and features with quality as per the global and national targets and timelines agreed in coordination with market facing functions. Lead the engagement with ROs and NOs in addressing gaps and issues in quality and delivery.

  • Provide central level coordination for field facing functions input into field related tools and resources supporting supporter experience products and deliverables ensuring that they adequately address sponsorship services.

  • Lead input to decision processes related to field testing, scale-outs and other areas of business involving “go-to field / go-to market” decision gates. Inform and influence the decision processes ensuring that the interests of the field are addressed.

  • Lead input to partnership change processes involving sponsorship assurance processes including TFE and sponsorship in programming mainstreaming.

Engagement & Networking:

  • Lead coordination of Sponsorship services business network bringing together field representatives for ongoing engagement on sponsorship services in coordination with market facing functions.

  • Lead ongoing engagement and communications with RO and NO stakeholders for prioritization of approved projects and priorities within their plans and effective implementation.

  • Actively engage in the sponsorship in programming network ensuring that integration and performance of sponsorship services are considered.

  • Participate and contribute in regional and partnership networks and workgroups developing their understanding, engagement and action on sponsorship services.

  • Work closely with TFE programme management unit on coordination of TFE scale-up plans with ROs and NOs Regularly engage the ROs and NOs developing their understanding and ensuring that TFE plans are prioritised and implemented.

  • Support the field ministry and market facing ministry in engagement with ROs and NOs on ongoing projects focused on sponsorship services.

Capability Development:

  • Lead the development of implementation methodology and global scale up of Sponsorship Management Orientation for new Sponsorship Management staff in NOs and Regions. Negotiate with ROs and NOs to build and implement SMO as part of NO staff capability development plans.

  • Advise on the Sponsorship Basic Training for Development Programming methodology and implementation plan and support in implementation in close coordination with Sponsorship Policy and Programmes team and TDMS.

  • Support in the development and implementation of Basic Sponsorship Orientation for all staff across all levels in the organization.

  • Support the Director Sponsorship Field Operations in coaching, mentoring and capacity building of Regional Sponsorship team members.

  • Support in the engagement and coordination of capacity building efforts with Regions and NOs influencing the national and regional practices for delivery of quality Supporter engagement features.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in development, social science, business administration or other related field.

  • At least 5 years management experience in business operations in global organisations with complex organisational relationships.

  • Broad knowledge of development and sponsorship preferably within World Vision.

  • Strength in building and managing effective work relationships with both local and dispersed colleagues.

  • Strong diagnostic skills and ability to facilitate solutions to complex issues.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with many different functions and cultures.

  • Experience in managing teams and building relationships with people at a variety of levels.

  • Typically requires 7-10 years of relevant work experience in relevant field.

  • Experience in working with multiple functions around enterprise wide change processes.

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.


  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, collaborative, facilitation and time management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage teams effectively in dynamic changing environment.

  • Understanding and experience of development industry with preference to child sponsorship based programming approaches and models.

Work Environment:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30 % of the time.
