World Vision International (Rwanda) is a child focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programs in 24 Districts of Rwanda.
World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced national for the position of Faith & Development Specialist.The position will be based in Kigali and reporting to the Programme Effectiveness & Strategy Director.
Purpose of the position:
To ensure mainstreaming of Christian Commitments, Empowered Worldview and peace building activities within programmes and projects for a successful attainment of Child Wellbeing in a holistic manner.
The major responsibilities include:
Ensure integration of Christian Commitments and peace building into the Technical Approaches & Technical Programmes. Facilitate the mainstreaming of Christian Commitments, Empowered Worldview and peace building initiatives /activities into all programs and projects and ensure that these initiatives are community driven for increased ownership and sustainability.
Ensure WV staff participation in any of the many opportunities provided throughout the year that explore WV’s Christian Identity and how to live that out in work (i.e. Bible Studies, Day of Prayer, Partnership Month, Prayer Sessions, Staff Retreats, etc.) Provide Christian Commitments orientation processes for all staff on WVI Christian Identity upon joining the ministry.
Ensure regular update of the devotional material
Build capacity of Cluster staff on spiritual nurture for children integration into their programs. Also, ensure that frontline staff have adequate capacity to apply DO NO HARM principles while implementing Technical Programs at Area Development level.
Strengthen WV staff and community capacity on Empowered Worldview approach which is a cross cutting and foundational approach that enables men, women and children to ultimately change behaviors and adopt empowered lifestyles in a manner that will ensure sustainability and positively reinforce resilient livelihoods.
Capacity building for Integration of Peace and Conflict Sensitivity in Programming and Empowering Children as Peace builders.
Build community capacity on healing, Peace Building and Reconciliation in relation to the running of Healing workshops for sustainable peace.
Ensure WV staff and community attendance at various SNC workshops and events when and where possible.
Update Christian Commitments and peace building fact sheets, capacity statements, and talking points for donor engagement
Work with Grants Acquisition Management team in developing Peace Building, Christian Commitments & Empowered Worldview related concept papers/proposals writing.
Pursue and develop meaningful and formal partnerships with churches and other community stakeholders that will compliment WVR Christian Commitments activities. Also ensure potential and strategic formal partnerships with Government, UN agencies, NGO’s, research institutes and other community stakeholders that will compliment WVR peace building activities.
Ensure clear, formal and coordinated contracts, agreements or covenants between WVR and churches and FBOs as well as appropriate operational procedures to guide implementation of signed agreements or covenants.
Engage and liaise with Church umbrellas to promote peace and spiritual nurture for children to achieve Child Wellbeing in a holistic manner.
Engage and liaise with National Level Actors and Institutions on Peace and Reconciliation.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Ensure Christian Commitment and Peace Building integration regular reporting by all Programs and projects.
Ensure monitoring tools are in place to track the implementation progress of spiritual nurture for children, WV staff formation and peace building activities/initiatives.
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports on Peace Building, Christian Commitment & Empowered Worldview activities in line with World Vision and/or donor formats.
Regular documentation of Christian Commitment and peace building promising practices and ensure their duplication in other Area Programs.
Support keeping accurate and up-to-date records of Christian Commitment and peace building protocols, polices, lessons and good practices, and facilitate their circulation and use within the NO, across the partnership and with partners.
Must be a mature, committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
Minimum Qualification required
University degree in Development studies, Theology, Gender, Social Sciences, Human Rights or Law, psychology, public health or other related fields. Preferably Master’s Degree in International Development, Gender, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Law or related disciples or certificates. Working experience in community development.
5 years of relevant experience (psychosocial work, peace building and reconciliation or Christian Commitment).
Technical Skills & Abilities:
Mature, commitment Christian with emotional and spiritual maturity
Excellent understanding of WV Empowered Worldview Approach and peace Building core project models (PDW, IPACS, ECaP, etc).
Excellent communication and networking skills which inspire confidence with partners and churches.
Ability and passion to pursue transformation of staff, partners and communities that exemplifies a non-discriminatory understanding.
Fluency in English (excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report-writing and formal communication skills).
Excellent computer skills.
Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.
Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context.
