SAP Social Media,Editorial,Internal Communications Specialist
*Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate within the South Asia and Pacific (SAP) region where WVI is registered to operate.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of the role is to provide strategic and technical leadership and support to the Asia Pacific Region in the area of Communications to:
Raise awareness and understanding among all stakeholders (both internal and external) of the needs of poor and marginalized children, families and communities in Asia Pacific and of World Vision’s response and impact.
Contribute to enhancing the organizational capacity in the regional office and national offices on the use of traditional and social media platforms to effectively and proactively position World Vision as a leading relief, development and advocacy agency in the Asia Pacific.
Support national office communications teams to assess and address capacity gaps to ensure teams are working to National Office (NO) and Regional Office (RO) strategies, especially related to media engagement and social media
a.Support the Regional Communications Director and Regional Leader in the area of communications for effective public positioning of World Vision as a leading relief, development and advocacy agency
b.Champion National Offices and regional team on proper engagement with media and publics especially during complex humanitarian emergencies and political, social, economic, environmental and other crises
c.Practice servant leadership and be a role model for the staff team, peers and others.
a.Support the implementation of regional communications strategy and business plan in support of and in alignment with regional (including sub strategies) and global communications strategy and priorities.
b.Contribute to the development of overall regional strategy and global communications strategies, priorities and plans in close collaboration with other regional functions ensuring that communication priorities of the Asia Pacific Region are integrated and prioritized
c.Support National Offices in developing effective communication strategies and plans, especially related to media engagement and social media, that are appropriate to their context in alignment with the regional and global strategies and priorities.
OPERATIONAL (TECHNICAL) SUPPORT
a.Advise on how the Region and National Offices should engage effectively on cutting edge digital and social media platforms and share implications of these platforms in relation to communications staffing, strategy and content delivery.
b.Analysing effectivity of NO social media platforms and providing advice and support to promote intended behavior in line with strategy via creative online mediums
c.Provide technical support to National Office communications during communication crisis and disaster response within the Region (in consultation with RCD)
d.Collaborate with Global Centre, Support Offices and National Offices in global and multi-country initiatives and projects by providing technical support in communications / input as appropriate.
e.Monitor the region for sensitive media issues that could impact WV and advise senior leadership on how to position the organization.
f.Develop and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders such as media, donors, UN, policy makers, coalition and other partners and audiences to enhance World Vision’s credibility and influence in the promotion of children’s rights.
g.Support National Offices in ensuring adherence to communications policies, protocols, standards and branding of WVI.
h.Support and ensure that all RO communications to various stakeholders, media and public are aligned with the WVI brand.
LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
a.Coordinate the assessment, development and implementation of an integrated regional capacity building plan that leverages existing capacities and strengths in national offices to support each other on a peer-to-peer basis.
b.Facilitate the process of continuous learning via conline channels on appropriate communication systems and tools appropriate to the context of the Asia Pacific Region.
c.Encourage mutual learning on Communication best practices between National Offices within Asia Pacific and between other regions.
d.Identify, share / facilitate access to communications resources and appropriate materials, learning and support opportunities for National Offices. These may include active involvement in training, engagement of trainers, establishing institutional links, identifying opportunities for staff exchange or mentoring.
INTERNAL LIAISON AND PARTNERSHIP ENGAGEMENT
a.Manage the production of the EAS newsletter and other key internal communications vehicles that seek to create a shared understanding of WV’s strategy, goals and impact within the organization.
b.Act as a strategic link and focal point for regional communications connecting National Offices, Support Offices and Global Centre for mutual support.
c.Work with other members of the SAP functional groups to ensure that communications can adequately support the wider ministry of World Vision in the region.
a.Contribute and support activities that will enrich and develop mutual growth in Christ.
b.Perform any other tasks assigned by the Senior Director of Operations, and the Global Centre Field Communications Director
