National Director, World Vision Singapore
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
World Vision International, Singapore Branch (WVIS) functions as a Support Office for the Partnership providing funding for the National Offices dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice. Motivated by our faith in Jesus Christ, World Vision serves alongside the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. WVIS also represent WV Partnership in the state across different stakeholders to generate impact based on Partnership Core Documents thru the stories, witnesses, and advocate for building partnership to achieve WV Mission and Vision.
General Role Profile:
The National Director (ND) role serve the executive leader of the organization and the public face of World Vision in Singapore. Other responsibilities encompass leadership and modelling of the values, the ethos and Christian spirituality of the organization. This includes strategy formulation, managerial direction and operational oversight of all support activities and their flow within WVI to the field and to the management of the broader Partnership. As a key leader within the Partnership, the Singapore ND must play a significant role in its global strategic leadership bodies to ensure effective liaison between the Partnership management, and between support and field offices.
Lead for strategic planning and innovation:
The ND as the strategic leadership aims to achieve both the annual and long term goals thru annual planning and 3-5 years Strategic Planning process by the following strategic and tactic areas:
Develop relationship with key stake holders, such as Donors and Sponsors, Church, Corporate, Government, Volunteers, Schools and Youth, etc., to foster engagement environment among respective strategies to partners of World Vision in our international ministry as well as partner of advocate to impact the local society with strategic measurement metrics.
Lead the team to develop 3-5 year strategic plan and annual action plan and budget, set objectives and goals with metrics based on guidance from the long term strategic plan, the Global Strategy imperatives, Ministry Funding Strategies, local markets situation, and insights from AC, input from RL. The plan is approved and endorsed by the RL and the AC of Singapore at proper stage of the process.
Strategic plan includes the market positioning, appropriate legal status, organizational development, as well as marketing and fundraising plan, which includes Sponsorship Transformation, Channel (e.g. Church, digital platform), development, new donor segments cultivation, such as Middle and Major donor(HNWI), Cause-inspired Millennial, Corporate Engagement, etc.
All brainstorming encouraged to be innovative with creative ideas based on the dynamic changes of the context, technology, and different generations, now and in the future.
Leader of stewardship for quality result and achieving fundraising as commitment to the international ministry:
Lead the teams for quality implementation planning toward the objectives and goals of the strategic and annual plan with timely inputs from stakeholders, measurement and tactic adjustment as required. Take accountability of periodical review and mastering the progress and milestones for quality result.
Develop capacity of the teams with stewardship mindset and ability to use sound tools, such as project management, and systems that has adopted or developed by partnership, e.g. iVision, to gain efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Review and Design team structure with best professionalism, talents and experience matched portfolio timely for organizational effectiveness in which best results created thru both individual excellence and team effectiveness.
Perform with ability of keeping balance of investment and cost management, ensuing sound risk management, financial management and developing teams with appropriate capacity to plan and manage projects with these knowledge, skills and ability.
Lead to increase World Vision’s influence across stakeholders:
Identifies, influences, and builds coalitions with national leaders, partners and other key people and organizations, including Government, Christian churches, Corporate, Media, etc.
Represents WVIS as the public spokesperson on matters across Public Relations, Risk Management, Organizational positioning, Advocate campaign, e.g. Ending Violence against Child, marketing or fundraising events.
Ensures that WVIS is branded in a manner that strongly and appropriately communicates the mission and vision of the organization, resulting in strong brand recognition in those markets where WV operates.
Lead and set model in cultivating relationship with key donors, e.g. Major Donors, Special or influential donors, strategic corporate account, etc.
Servant leadership for excellent team building:
Models Christian servant leadership with Christian character to reflect the WV’s core documents. With this, lead promoting and building the organization's quality with Partnership Vision, Mission, Values, Policies and Covenant of Partnership to internal and external stakeholders.
Build and foster WVIS a working environment of Trust, shared Commitment across WVIS itself and the partnership, biblical based Stewardship, external orientation and timely truth telling with love.
Lead development of senior leaders, including development plan and succession plan, direct reports and the whole team in professional capacity and maturity life to live out Christ life. Leveraging tools such as Our Voice Survey as reflection on self, team and organizational heath factors for continuous improvement.
Partnership engagement on purpose of collaboration, contribution and learning:
Hold Partnership spirit including the integrated focus to support the global strategy from a supporting office perspective which include the % of international ministry, e.g. ADP support via sponsorship, committed non-sponsorship projects, emergency relief response, and fragile context.
Engage the partnership and regional collaboration, which is aiming for contributing a great good of the partnership as well as meeting the local needs. These engagements may include such as rotated representative of PRC, SO Summit, regional forum, Asia SO Council, GLS, and Triennial Council.
Ensure receiving supports from partnership supports including marketing and fundraising capacity building, rewards from engaging global or regional initiatives, timely feedbacks. On the other hand, fulfill the SO’ role as funding commitment to WV international Ministries, core cost support, lessons sharing and best practices sharing.
Advisory council development and engagement:
Lead by working with the Chair of AC and RL for AC development, including advancing AC members’ knowledge about World Vision such as WV core documents, by-laws, policies, ministry Vision Trip, AC meeting preparation, etc.
Working with global governance Asia advisor, RL to support AC in conducting AC succession plan, new member recruiting and orientation, policies fulfillment, e.g. Child Protection Policy, Interest Conflict policy, AC evaluations survey, Peer Review and follow-up, etc.
Working with AC Chair and RL to conduct performance evaluation, succession planning based on the “Charter of Relationship for Engagement”.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A graduate degree (Masters preferred), with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in Business, Marketing/Fundraising or related fields.
6+ years in a Senior Management Leadership role with proven results in a commercial or not for profit organization with emphasis on fundraising.
Proven leader of people, with credibility to set a direction that others want to follow with ability to engage small teams of professionals with different backgrounds and experiences.
Prior experience working in an International Non-Government Organization (i.e. Fundraising, Programming, Advocacy, Grants, Sponsorship, People, Finance).
Significant international experience, working in an a large complex organization with a multi-cultural environment.
Highly motivated with the ability to manage people, resources and decisions under pressure.
A heart for the poor and a deep personal commitment to World Vision’s vision, mission and core values.
Mature Christian leader with ability to work within a Christian framework and be sensitive to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.
Fluent English (written and verbal).
Singapore Nationality is highly preferred.
Mandarin or Chinese Dialects popular in Singapore is highly preferred.
Leadership with High Maturity in character, Integrity and Living out Christ life.

Strategic Minded, with skills and practice experience in strategic planning.

High Level Finance Management.
Willing to travel minimum of 25% of the time, internationally to developing countries and to World Vision Partnership offices several times a year. Exclusive dedication will be required.
