Project Officer- Child Protection (CP) & Gender Based Violence (GBV)

The Role:

The Project Officer- CP & GBV will lead the implementation of Gender Based Violence and child rights violation prevention and response strategies while maintaining Inter Agency Standing Committee (IASC) guidelines and standards. The incumbent will also support local campaigns and engage community in mobilization for Child Protection and Gender Based Violence services in the community. S/he will also oversee the Child Protection and Gender Assessments to inform programming. This role will also support systems strengthening by ensuring reporting and referral mechanisms are vibrant and functional. S/he will provide technical support to the community based Child Protection Committees and Gender Based Violence Committees on protection strategies.

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Science, Social work or any related field.

  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in protection project implementation.

  • Demonstrate experience in Advocacy and policy advancement work, Child Protection or Gender.

  • Knowledge of the humanitarian standards for Child Protection and Gender Based Violence is a requirement

  • Knowledge of community based Child Protection approaches, including experience in participatory approaches (PRA/PLA) and Child Participation methodologies

  • Working knowledge of English, and local Somali language.

  • Computer literacy is required; working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power point.

Working Environment:

The position will be based in Baidoa, South West state with regular travel to other field locations for donor and stakeholders engagements.
