World Vision Somalia Program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and results oriented Somalia Residents to fill the following vacancy to be based in Dollow Office.

Project Coordinator – Food Security & Livelihoods (Dollow)

Purpose of the Position:

To coordinate WVS livelihood projects through a variety of community structures, including community groups, user committees and LNGOs. The position is responsible for all aspects of implementation, including coordinating partner identification, hiring and performance management of World Vision staff, capacity building of partners and World Vision staff, proposal and budget development and report writing. Catalyze communities to access a more diverse range of livelihoods and employment and encourage individuals to invest in each other, and in themselves. Build Stronger collective engagement with the preservation and common use of natural resources will help communities invest in their localities and in land. He/she will take an active role in assessments and evaluation exercises in an effort to improve quality and increase scope of Livelihood programming. The position is at the field level for coordinating the implementation & programming and will share information to relevant cluster groups, coordination mechanisms, government ministries, and INGO/LNGOs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Project Design, Monitoring, Implementation and Evaluation

  • Project Management & Budget Management

  • Staff & Partner Capacity Building for Resilience/Livelihood programming

  • Foster Internal and External Engagement

  • Management of staff under his or her care and in line with WV Human Resource Policies.

  • A decisive coordinator, especially when it comes to performance and people management

  • Broad understanding of Resilience and pastoral Livelihoods Programming

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • University degree preferably in Agriculture, animal/livestock science, development studies, international studies, social sciences or discipline relevant to Food security and Livelihoods or disaster reduction and resilience

  • At least 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in crisis prevention and recovery, in designing, planning and managing prevention and recovery strategies and projects and relevant advocacy programmes in disaster reduction, Pastoral Livelihoods, emergency response and post-disaster recovery with a peace building/conflict prevention approach;

  • Extensive field experience in disaster and conflict environments, complex emergencies and an in-depth knowledge of issues related to resilience in the country is required;

  • Application of theoretical knowledge in the design, management and evaluation of complex, multi-disciplinary capacity building programs involving national governments, civil society and international organizations;

  • Strong proven analytical and writing skills;

  • Good knowledge of damage and needs assessment methodologies

  • Proven ability to lead strategy development for complex agendas, with clear focus on key business/operational outputs.

  • Proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior government and district officials.

  • Excellent negotiation, diplomacy and advocacy skills

  • Ability to work flexibly on a range of assignments, and adjust to and prioritize a variety of complex evolving tasks.

  • Strong analytical abilities, quantitative skills, and excellent writing and communication capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently, in consultation with other staff.

  • Ability to operate and work under pressure and manage stress

  • Very good computer skills

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: 100% Field Based in with frequent travels to meet beneficiaries and program partners.

  • Travel: Considerable amount of local travel is required.
