World Vision Somaliland Program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and results oriented Somaliland residents to fill the following vacancy to be based in Garbodadar Office.

Project Assistant I: Health and Nutrition

Effective implementation, coordination and supervision of health capacity building and support of primary health care services with the aim of improving the health & nutritional status of vulnerable groups in Somaliland.

Major Responsibilities:

Ensure effective implementation and coordination of project:

  • Acquaint oneself and other stakeholders of the project in the project objectives and activities

  • Support the implementation of project activities as per the DIP and as per the acceptable standards set by World Vision

  • Support the coordination of activities with community leaders, district authorities and other stakeholders to mobilize communities to actively participate in project activities

  • Organize and facilitate workshops at the community and ministry of health level

  • Conduct selection and training of community based nutrition volunteers.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:

  • Work with the HMIS officer to ensure that all data collection tools for the project are in place

  • Ensure MOH staff have adequate understanding of the tools used for data collection and reporting and are submitting reports regularly

  • Ensure collection of the HMIS data and compile and submit to the Project officer and HMIS officer

  • Conduct regular (at least monthly) supervision visit to project implementation sites to monitor progress of activities and prepare field visit report with clear action plans

  • Conduct supervision of community based activities and compile reports

  • Work with the project manager in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual internal reports

  • Support the project officer in updating ITT, PMIT and other project management tools on monthly basis

  • Participate and support project evaluations and related assessments

Capacity Building:

  • Closely work with MOH and WV staff to prepare detailed training plan for the project duration

  • Organize and facilitate trainings as per the plan to build the capacity of the health service providers as per the quality expected

  • Ensure comprehensive report is produced for each of the trainings conducted and appropriately archived

Represent WVS in the various forums

  • Represent WV in regional and central coordination meetings as required.

Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills

  • Must adhere to set security standards

  • Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Educational level required: B.Sc. Degree in Public health, Nutrition or Nursing and 3 years’ experience.

  • Experience: Three years of experience in implementing health and nutrition projects in humanitarian setting

  • Experience in coordinating and conducting health and nutrition project monitoring and supervision

  • Experience in implementation of emergency response activities in Health and Nutrition

  • Experience and ability to manage projects in insecure environments

  • Fluent in English and Somali

  • Proficient in user of Microsoft office programs.

  • Experience of working with and/ or commitment to humanitarian standards e.g. SPHERE.
