Project Assistant I: Pharmacist

Effective implementation, coordination and supervision of health capacity building and support of primary health care services with the aim of improving the health & nutritional status of vulnerable groups in Somaliland.

Major Responsibilities:

Management of medical supplies in WVI warehouse

  • Support the supply chain team in receiving medical items from UNICEF, GIK and WVI procurement

  • Provide technical support in the management of medical store in WVI office

  • Oversee the distribution of medical items based the distribution plan

  • Perform regular inventory of the medical store in Hargeisa and update the health manager on items in excess and near to expire

  • Work with project officer on preparing drug distribution plan for the health facilities based on the requirement.

M&E & Reporting of drug supply management

  • Ensure all HFs have the required recording and reporting format for drug consumption tracking and reporting

  • Train project staff and MOH staff on drug consumption tracking reporting systems

  • Develop and maintain drug consumption tracking database and submit update to project staff on the status of each facilities on regular basis.

  • Conduct field visit to supervise the drug supply management in the health facilities and provide on-the-job training

Capacity Building:

  • Organize and support drug and medical supplies management repated trainings as per the project budget

  • Conduct regular on-the-job training to MOH staff on drug supply management

  • Ensure comprehensive report is produced for each of the trainings conducted and appopriately archived

Represent WVS in the various forums

  • Represent WV in regional and central coordination meetings as required.

  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills

  • Must adhere to set security standards

  • Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Educational level required: Diploma in Pharmacy or Nursing with at least 3 years’ working experience.

  • Experience: Three years of experience in management of medical supply management for health program

  • Experience in management of medical warehouses

  • Experience in implementation of emergency response activities in Health and Nutrition

  • Experience and ability to manage projects in insecure environments

  • Fluent in English and Somali

  • Proficient in user of Microsoft office programs.

  • Experience of working with and/ or commitment to humanitarian standards e.g. SPHERE.
