WASH & Hygiene Project Assistant; SHF - Burao - Somaliland

World Vision Somaliland Program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and results oriented Somaliland Residents to fill the following vacancies to be based in Burao Office.

WASH Project Assistant I - SHF

To provide continuous promotion of hygiene and sanitation standards through campaigns, meetings and community mobilization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with project Officer II in conducting periodic assessment, baseline studies, context analysis of field realities and give feedback on the same. Actively participate beneficiaries’ selection of water truck voucher for households and hygiene kits.

  • Ensure there is an active Management committee (At least 40 % women) for every constructed / rehabilitated WASH facility among the targeted community;

  • Ensure the hygiene education and campaigns are conducted among the targeted community members in IDPs, health centers and schools. Organize hygiene promotion campaigns at house hold level;

  • Prepare detailed implementation work plans for trainings, meetings and hygiene campaigns and ensure their timely submission;

  • Supervise and monitor hygiene activities and follow up communal latrines users and school latrines to be used properly by the students.

  • Prepare and submit monthly progress reports of hygiene promotion and share any lessons learnt.

  • Organize and develop beneficiary lists for distribution of sanitation materials facilities such as soap and water filters and ensuring equitable distribution of the same within the project area

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Educational level required: Diploma in any of the following - Community Development, Public Health.

  • Technical Training qualifications required: Skills in community led total sanitation (CLTS,) child hygiene and sanitation transformation (CHAST) and/ or Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Methodology (PHAST) tools.

  • Experience: 2 years of experience in Project implementation of preferably a Community development / health or / WASH Project

  • Proficiency in using computer software e. g MS office and internet.

  • Fluency in Somali language and English is needed.
