Project Assistant I - Food Assistance/Commodities (Burao)

World Vision Somaliland Program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and results oriented Somaliland residents to fill the following position to be based in Burao - Somaliland.

Project Assistant – Food Assistance/Commodities (4 position)

To implement Food and cash Assistance Programs in the target district(s) and ensure compliance to donor and World Vision requirements /guidelines. Day to day implementation of WFP supported food assistance activities in Burao District. Provide regular reports and required information to the Project Officer and Project Coordinator as may be required. Ensure program compliance to accountability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Day to day implementation of WFP supported food assistance activities in Burao District;

  • Plan and execute community mobilization and sensitization programs;

  • Participate in community based beneficiary targeting and registration on WFP’s SCOPE system;

  • Voucher redemption/ food distribution monitoring;

  • Register complaints and feedback during all food assistance activities (Targeting, registration, top up, distribution/redemption) and ensure all complaints and feedback are logged and addressed/resolved or escalated appropriately.

  • Communicate with Project Officer and Project Coordinator on all SCOPE cards related challenges e.g. finger print issues, loss of cards, replacement of household heads etc.

  • Maintain records as per CBTD, commodity manual and Cash transfer guidelines.

Provide regular reports and required information to the Food Assistance Coordinator and Cash and Voucher Project Manager:

  • Account for all commodities received, dispatched and distributed (actual vs planned) if any, and prepare monthly reports by district;

  • Report on beneficiary data, implementation successes, challenges and trends as well as on any best practices or lessons on monthly basis;

  • Report on all complaints and feedback received during implementation of activities and status of resolution of raised complaints;

  • Ensure proper and timely planning of activities to facilitate efficient and cost effective use of allocated vehicles;

Ensure programme compliance to accountability standards:

  • Support to ensure that all commodities and other materials for target populations are properly handled, stored, transported, distributed, tracked, fully accounted for and reported on according to World Vision standard procedures and donor policy;

  • Hold regular conversations with target communities and beneficiaries to gauge perceptions and experience of programme implementation;

  • Support development of monthly CSS, bi-monthly PDM Reports, and other narrative reports to WVI, WFP and SOs conducted following the agreed protocol.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum Diploma in Agriculture/Public Health/Community Development/Development studies or any other related study.

  • Should have 2 years’ working experience in food assistance, nutrition, health or commodity programming.

  • Professional certification/training in Nutrition, cash and voucher programming will be an added advantage.

  • Experience using WFP’s SCOPE system will be added advantage

  • Should demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written, as well as good negotiation skills;

  • Demonstrate good use of computer with above average use of excel

  • Should be well organized, detailed with good experience working on excel sheets.
