Internal Auditor

Based in Colombo with extensive travel

Job Profile

The Internal Auditor will assist the Audit Manager in performing Independent, objective, disciplined & systematic audits of World Vision Lanka(WVL) programs & operations, contributing to effective risk management, internal controls, accountability and governance in compliance with statutory requirements and acceptable audit standards for the industry. The position will verify, substantiate and confirm compliance to established operational, financial and other related complementary accountability standards, policies and procedures in World Vision in alignment with the strategic directions of the organisation. In addition the position will also:

  • Develop a comprehensive, practical program of audit coverage for the assigned location or unit.

  • Ensures accomplishment of the engagement plan/program in accordance with acceptable audit standards and set schedules.

  • Appraises the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve areas raised in formal written reports.

  • Participates actively in the formulation of organizational policies by way of recommending relevant and viable policies and guidelines that will lead to better organizational and departmental performance as a result of audit activity/ies assigned.

  • Contributes to the overall improvement of audit tools, processes, plans and budget for the effective and efficient operations of the department

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting Or full/part Part qualification in a recognised professional accounting body, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK(CIMA)

  • Minimum of two years experience in Auditing in a mercantile sector, Bank, Non Governmental Organization or an Audit firm.

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills both oral & written in English & Sinhala /Tamil

  • Maturity, well organized and willingness to work under pressure of constant deadlines is an important attribute

  • Must be unbiased and honest in reporting along with findings/facts and be able to recommend preventive measures

  • Experienced in the use of MS Office,& computer based finance Information Management Systems & related software applications

  • Experience in Risk Based Audit, with basic IT Audit & fraud investigation , will add value

  • Not for Profit/Development sector experience will be an added advantage

  • Cross cultural sensitivity and commitment to abide by WVs core values and Mission statement

  • Strong in systems and information analysis and reporting, internal controls, audit processes and management information systems, monitoring/evaluation and related processes, as well as government rules and regulation
