ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR – INTEGRATED PROGRAMMING SOLUTIONS

Location: To be based in Colombo with extensive travel

Job Profile

The position provides leadership and direction for strategically positioning the priority technical sectors in programming at all levels; Area Programme (AP), provincial and national levels while leveraging contribution to maximize child well-being. Oversees World Vision’s sector programming to ensure that it reflects the organizational standards and practices while highest technical standards are met in its programming. He/she will build WVL ‘s reputation in all sectors, facilitate innovation in models and approaches of al technical sectors and strengthens WVL ‘s technical capacity.

The position will ensure that the technical sectors are well placed within the WVL, regional and partnership strategies and contribute to the overall child well-being creating multiple benefits through integrated approaches. Integration with Regional and Partnership Quality Ministry community of practice is envisaged

Key Objectives

  • Responsible for ensuring high standards in design, monitoring and evaluation of technical programmes leading to maximum benefit and impact on the well-being of children & the communities whom we serve, whilst ensuring ministry quality objectives remain true to WV’s Vision, Mission and Core values

  • The position will play a key role in ensuring programs are aligned with the strategic direction of WV Lanka. He/She will ensure that all program interventions are integrated and meet the LEAP3 standards.

  • Manage and coordinate a group of technical specialists of the main sectors of WVL; Health & Nutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Agriculture and Economic development, Education & Life Skills and Child Protection, and the cross cutting sectorsof gender and disability inclusion, Peacebuilding, Disaster risk reduction, climate change and environment and any other sector that may be of interest for WVL in upcoming strategies.

  • Ensure the integration of Sectoral interventions in programs and will be actively involved in collaborative projects to ensure integrity and compliance with WV’s ADP standards

  • Responsible for building technical capacity at all levels to achieve the strategic objectives of WVL

  • Responsible for building WVL brand and reputation in the technical sectors we represent

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or professional qualification in International Development studies, Community Development or any other relevant degree;

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Program Management in a complex, international organization preferably in NGO context.

  • A thorough understanding of LEAP/TDI standards;

  • Have at least one Sectoral program expertise

  • Critical thinking, Creative and innovative thinking, and facilitation skills

  • Understanding of knowledge management

  • Handled government funded project

  • Proven management ability

  • Proven experience as a team player

  • Demonstrated collaboration skills

  • Excellent communication skills in English (both oral & written) with ability to communicate in Sinhala and/or Tamil, relevant to the area of operation.

  • IT savvy & well versed in the use of MS Office Suite – Word, Excel & PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated commitment to World Vision’s values and philosophy, and capacity to engage with the broader community in living these values

  • Able to travel extensively within the areas of operation under his/her purview
