Associate Director - Operations (02 Positions)

Job Description

Job Profile

Reporting to the Director Operations, the positions will play a key role in developing & implementing the operations strategy for WVL to effectively manage & deliver sustainable change for the well-being of vulnerable children & their families in the communities we serve, in line with World Vision & key stakeholders’ strategic operational goals & objectives. He/she will take leadership & support the Zonal Managers, in executing the field operations business plans, managing the operations portfolio, including developing & implementing strategic plans, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of field operations, ensuring highest impact & quality in WVL program delivery.

Working in collaboration with Quality Assurance, Child Protection, Sponsorship Operations, Faith & Development, Grants Acquisition, Corporate Partnerships, Advocacy & Public Engagement Units and other relevant divisions & support function units, he/she will lead, guide, support & monitor the Zonal Managers and the respective teams, in the effective implementation of program operations strategy, consistent with WV Lanka, Regional & GC operations strategy.

Key Objectives

  • Provide strategic support in the effective & efficient management of WVL program operations & deliverables, in line with partnership operations strategy, within the framework of WVL national strategy

  • Monitor, manage & provide directions for programs, ensuring sustained well-being of children within the families and communities we serve, in line with the Child Well Being (CWB) goals of WV.

  • Ensure strong DME & LEAP, compliance in projects through effective collaboration between program operations & the Quality Assurance division

  • Implement WVL national strategy, by helping programs operations be aligned with Technical Approaches/ Technical Programs in the priority sectors, for the delivery of quality programs.

  • Ensure effective planning, budgeting, staffing, resource allocation and monitoring of diversified grants & corporate funded programs.

  • Lead and roll out strategic initiatives and pilot projects in line with change management requirements in field operations

  • Ensure collaboration between Operations and the support functions including finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Audit, IT, Communications and others for the smooth & effective functioning of field operations

  • National level engagement with the Govt and other stakeholders including donors, NGOs, multi and bilateral partners & corporates to expand reach & impact of WVL program operations.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent qualification in International Development, or any related field. Masters qualification would be an advantage.

  • Minimum of five years experience in Program Management with demonstrated leadership skills of at least three years in community development, in a complex International Humanitarian agency.

  • Good project management capacity, with ability to facilitate and empower self-directed autonomous teams in a cross-cultural setting

  • Thorough understanding of poverty issues and development theories, Holistic & Transformational development, the Development Program Approach (DPA).

  • Good training & facilitation skills with demonstrated capacity in establishing & maintaining collaborative work relations with internal & external stakeholders

  • A thorough knowledge & understanding of LEAP standards and related DME Processes with a basic understanding of statistical definitions relevant for DME

  • Proven track record in developing good donor relationships and forging partnerships with government, corporates, NGOs , UN & related external stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills in English (both oral & written) with ability to communicate in Sinhala and/or Tamil, relevant to the area of operation.

  • Able to work well in a computerised work environment,& well versed in the use of MS Office Suite Word, Excel & PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated commitment to World Visions values and philosophy, and capacity to engage with the broader community in living these values

  • Able to travel extensively within the areas of operation under his/her purview
