Project Assistant- EU Housing Project (01 Position)
Locations: Killinochchi with extensive travel
World Vision Lanka (WVL) seeks to recruit qualified & experienced staff to implement the flanking measure component of the EU funded housing program (Homes not Houses: Building sustainable future together) in the specified project locations in Batticaloa, Mullativu & Killinochich ,according to the terms and conditions of the grant agreement signed under this project.. World Vision Lanka is one of the co- applicants of this project and will work in close collaboration with and report to the Habitat for Humanity International, Slovakia and Habitat for Humanity in Sri Lanka.
Working with the project team & the relevant stakeholders, the Project Assistant will serve as a mobilizer , facilitating the implementation of project activities in achieving the project deliverable of the flanking measures component of the EU Housing project in the respective project divisions in Killinochchi. In addition He/She will also:
Mobilise community stakeholders and beneficiaries for the effective implementation of the owner driven housing constructions & livelihood interventions in the given project divisions.
Coordinate & facilitate required stakeholder meetings, trainings, surveys, visit beneficiary families, monitor progress to enhance project output & effectiveness
Provide required support to ensure that all project activities/interventions are delivered on time, within the project scope and budget
Support community partners in defining monitoring process for mutual learning and accountability in project implementation and capacity building
Provide timely and complete reports as required
Knowledge, skills & abilities required for the position
Academic background in development, social science or related field (Degree/Diploma)
Minimum 02 years’ experience in community development, program/project coordination preferably in a NGO context
Good report writing & communication skills in English with working knowledge of Tamil and/or Sinhala
Competent in the use of MS Office Applications, internet & email communications
Ability to travel extensively within project areas of operation
Good understanding of current socio, economic & political context of the areas of operation
Knowledge and experience of holistic community development
Excellent interpersonal, representational, advocacy and networking skills
A team player with good interpersonal skills with cross-cultural sensitivity, & commitment to World Vision Core Values and Mission Statement
